10 Reviews for Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant

We went here and found the staff to be friendly and accomodating. They said we could just bring beer or wine, so we rolled in with a 50 litre keg so just had to pay one lots of corkage. The staff were excellent and totally fine with this. Top night- sorry don’t remember the food.

Not sure what the other reviewers are talking about but Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant is by far the best in town. We have been going there since the early 1990′s so they must be doing something right to still be running. I recommend the beef enchiladas and tacos but our family favourite is the Chile Con Queso (hot cheese dip – soo good). Chef and staff are very lovely and always come to see how you like the meal. Overall Pancho’ delivers a great dinning experience and the food is remarkable. :)

I’ve been eating at Panchos for almost 20 years. I’ve many friends who have eaten here for a very long time. The owner and staff are friendly, the meals I LOVE, and the atmosphere is often quiet, which is excellent. The corkage is quite high. Some above reviews are obviously written by the same irked group. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry before, and there is nothing different about Panchos than any other restaurant I know of. They do not offer a footbath service or a hands-free toothpick, which may be expected by some reviewers, but from what I know from experience regarding the air of Godhood adopted by some people and groups when dining out, this is hardly surprising. Top marks for Panchos from me.

These PANCHODS don’t even deserve any stars!!.. This restaurant should have closed down the day it opened! By far the worst dinning experience ever for all 4 of us…coincident? I think not!!!! Would never go back there again!

The location is dodgy…the food is ugh..the toilets are nastier than public toilets..the old man is rude and unprofessional; he felt the need to come threateningly close and yell at us when we complained about the poor quality of the food. The lady is not even Mexican. How sad.

Need to fix mould!! Very unhygienic!! Not impressed! Shame on you Pancho’s!!!

We had a big group go for a birthday dinner, and all had a good time.
We took our own beer, and wine, which is not common in Hamilton.

As a lover of Mexican food, there is very little choice in Hamilton, but I would definitely go back again.

DO NOT EVER EAT HERE!

It is by far the worst restaurant ever. I would not feed my dog this meal. Both me and my friend ordered very different meals and they came out exactly the same!

They also told us that we could bring whatever alcohol we wanted to BYO, so between 4 of us took a bottle of spirits and mixers. When at the door we got our mixers taken off us and had to pay $20 for a carafe of lemonade. What a joke! They were then very strong drinks.

And then since we didn’t eat the disgusting “meals” ended up costing an arm and a leg for drinks.

Whoever gave the restaurant 5 stars obviously does not have any taste buds and is blind as all meals look and taste worse than dog food.

Never ever go to Panchos! It should be shut down!

Panchos Mexican Restaurant is Disgusting! this place is the biggest rip off, the meals look like cat vomit and the staff are rude. We were told any alcoholic beverage could be brought, but were not aware that they charged a $10 corkage for spirits. They also took our non-alcoholic drinks off us and made us pay $10 for a jug of flat sprite! They do not have their corkage prices up anywhere either.. Panchos Mexican Restaurant service is poor, the toilets are very run down and the meals are gross. I wouldn’t even let my dog dine there. Stay Clear of this restaurant

I love this restaurant it has so much character and a really nice mexican feel to it. The food is amazing, especially their chimichangas. Service is pleasant but a little slow. Highly recommended to all mexican food lovers!

No offence but this was the worst restaurant I have even been too. My husband suggested it as we walked past but I should’ve realised from the fact there were no other customers, that it would not be good. After a long wait (we were the only customers the whole time) we were served a plate with (I dont know what it was) but it was runny and gross and the meat was more of a watery gravy with a few lumps in it and then melted cheese on it. And that cost us like $25!

Hamilton’s only Mexican restaurant that I’m aware of. As a lover of Mexican food, I need a chimichanga fix now and then. However, restaurant looks very run down and despite often being the only ones there, service is lacking. And don’t even think of visiting the toliets – they’re there, but you’ll lose your appetite.

The food is decent, and being the only Mexican available, I go back once a year (if I can’t visit Flying Burrito Brothers in Wellington). Good variety, and never seems to be busy if you want a quiet meal.
