They have awesome food, all the dishes a great but my husband loves the Kashmiri Fish masala & garlic roti . And i chicken biryani both hot has become our favorites.

The staff is great , always smiling and no request too much. The lady chef is one to mention is so sweet. :)

I would recommend to all.

Great little restaurant. Cheap and cheerful with a relaxed atmosphere. Authentic food at great prices. Recommended if you can’t be bothered driving into Wellington city. Good for kids too.

I went to this restaurant with my husband. The squid entree we ordered was ok not what we thought it would be, would not order that again though. I wanted the new item on the menu the puff samosa’s but it was not available. Our curries were very tasty but sadly the rice came out with a black hair in it, (we are both fair headed) we told them and they changed it for us the second thing that really bugged us was the amount of flies buzzing around. The seating was uncomfortable and the decor was lacking/basic. The staff were nice enough but it would of been nice if we were given a discount since two things were quite off putting. I think I would rather take away the food from here than eat there again.

Food here is so good. Good price and big meals. Agree with Peter M, one of the best kept secrets in Wellington.

Fabulous food and good portions. This is the second time we have eaten here and the meals are just divine. It may not look much from the street but it is the best kept secret in Wellington. The spices and heat in the curries were just right

Went for tea tonight, the lamb Jaipuri is a must! Was a fantastic meal! Extra rice wasn’t charged for(usually it is at other restaurants). Great friendly service and very tasty food! don’t be put off by the humble shop front or dining room because the food is brilliant!

I was put onto this place by a friend – went on a Friday at lunch time and it was packed, had to wait for a table.

Very friendly service, great curries for $8.50, and BYO.

I want to go there on the weekend for their dosa menu…. tbc.

Been here for dinner and lunch. First time for dinner on a Saturday. We arrived at 6pm on a winter evening and there was a long queue for takeaway. The aroma was irresistible, just like the food stalls in Malaysia. The quality of the food made up for the slower-than-expected service. We dined in and had chicken sambal, rojak and roti. Came back for lunch with friends and they were also impressed. Lunch was very good value. This must be a hidden treasure for the Malaysians who live in the northern suburb.

Pandan has never failed to delight. It is my favourite Asian restaurant. Food is always delicious and service excellent. I can especially recommend Chicken char kway teow goreng and their Mee Hoon. A family business that is worth supporting. Generous portion sizes and very reasonably priced.

We ducked in for lunch after reading the review in the Weekender by David Burton. I was there with my son and we ordered Chicken Korma and beef rendang – both delicious. I kicked myself for not ordering a spicier meal – it would have been better – but that is my fault.
I’m looking for excuses now to grab some takeaways at night from here …. great food at fantastic prices!
Keep it real :-)

I have been a number of times for take away lunch and loved it. today I went in and was thrown by the unfamiliar faces serving me. Has Pandan changed hands? beef randang tastes odd, sweet and very mild(asked for med)?

This has become our favourite Indian takeaway. The service is great and the food fantastic. I wasn’t familiar with a Malaysian take on Indian food (I’m English), so this was a wonderful surprise. Worth heading out to the N. Suburbs for.

Great authentic Malaysian food just as you’d find in Malaysian. Very friendly service at a reasonable price. Don’t be put off by the humble front-shop look. The Chef here is first rate. I’d pay a lot more for this quality food anywhere else.

Anticipating visiting Wellington late November I searched this site for a Malaysian restaurant. My choice of Pandan proved the review and rating system really works.
Although small and unpretentious, this restaurant performs way above its station. A highly skilled and engaging chef provided us with authentic Malaysian food at very reasonable prices. We were welcomed by his charming wife who ran the front of house and Takeaways with calm and efficiency. By talking to our hosts after our stunning meal we decided to return the next night and take advantage of the chef’s suggestion to choose some dishes he could not include on the menu because of preparation time. We returned with a friend and were treated to a feast. Tender lamb randang with a superbly complex sauce and two fish dishes perfectly prepared and cooked.
How lucky Wellingtonians are to have such a devoted and inspired chef preparing his ethnic dishes with such care and skill.

Great food, lovely hosts. Their chilli chicken is a must. So is their Beef Rendang. But our favourites are the Saturday brunches – Dosa with coconut chutney..just like I used to get in Malaysia.

Fantastic authentic food, by far the best in Wellington. Nice dishes on the menu and very attractive priced.
Have tried most of their dishes by now, which makes it even harder to make up my mind next time as they are all great. My all time favourite Beef Rendang was surpassed today by a masterpiece of a Prawn Lemak.
Pandan is run by most kind people, with a nice warm welcoming smile.
Pandan is a gem!

A hidden gem. The best Malaysian and South Indian restaurant in Wellington. Probably the only restaurant offering South Indian cuisine in Wellington. Their Chilli Chicken is to die for. And the try their Saturday brunch – really authentic, home style cooking. Well worth the trip out to Tawa.
