Wednesday the 4th of April was my son’s graduation, so we thought a light lunch at the Patio would be nice afterwards. Big mistake.
First problem was with seating.
Staff didn’t want to put the umbrellas up on the Patio, so we decided to sit inside as it was quite hot. I ordered some guacamole and corn chips for starters [for a table of 7] after asking the waitress if it was freshly made guacamole. She assured me it was. When it arrived, there was a tiny bowl [with enough for about 1 or 2 people] of a strange white substance, and a small dish of coloured, flavoured corn chips.
By this stage I was getting a bit worried.
Worse was yet to come.
The mains arrived intermittently.
My son’s scotch fillet burger was a sad looking thing, with a bit of cheap overcooked BBQ steak inside and no presentation to speak of.
The lamb appeared to be AWOL in my father’s lamb salad, though I am told a couple of small pieces were found in the bottom of the dish. My thai chicken curry, whilst edible at the time, gave me a gripey stomach for a day afterwards.
Salads in general looked like someone had opened a packet of salad greens from the supermarket and upended it on the plate. No dressing, no other vegetables. Just leaves. A five year old could do this.
I have had food with far better presentation and taste from a high school catering department.
I will never return here unless it is under new management.

Restaurant is okay. It’s great in the summer so you can sit out on the patio and overlook the cars and buildings.
Service wise – it’s a hit and miss with this place. 3/5 times I have been there, they have been ok.
I recommend the chicken breast with linguine pasta.

Not a place we will be heading back too.
All three of our meals were over cooked and looked as if they had been sitting under lights for a while. The steak was far from medium-rare and the salmon was dry. For mains over $30 there are far better places.
Service was poor.

I was very disappointed in the dinner myself and my partner had here. Despite it’s ideal location right in the central city with the fantastic patio, they haven’t even come close to reaching this spot’s potential. The atmosphere is lacking at best.
The food was the biggest let down – my partner ordered a steak which we both agreed we could have far surpassed cooking for ourselves at home. The accompanying sauce was awful – clearly out of a bisto packet from the supermarket.
I had a chicken and bacon linguini – again, very average quality, with a few pieces of dry chicken and a tasteless sauce.
Other gripes included warm beer and over-grilled garlic bread, however I would have to say overall the service was good, although there were very few diners.
At the end of the meal, we explained to the managers our dissatisfaction, which they seemed to take as a personal affront, rather than appreciate our feedback. Our waitress also remarked that she had asked us how our meals were and we had responded with “great” – which was a complete lie! We had an embarrassing confrontation with the 2 managers who did not want to hear of our complaints or make any attempt to remedy or apologise for the situation. They gave us $5 off.
I would never go back.

I’ve been in this restaurant in december. Staff vey nice unforntunatly service very poor, they did served us and we had no cutlery, so we had to wait 5 more min before eating! food very good and tasty but portion very very small. No one proposed us any desert or cofee and we finally had to go to the desk to order the bill.very disapointed.
Finally went back after the 4 Dec 07 lockout. Was told it was the date of the Queen’s Arcade Christmas Party, but no signs were posted on the locked barriers.
Have had lunch here a couple of times, which were o.k. in terms of service, food, and price. On Tuesday 4 Dec 2007 went there with my wife and daughter to have dinner; looking from the street I saw people in the restaurant, but both entrances to Queen’s Arcade were locked. Don’t trust this place in the evening.
