We just celebrated our daughter’s wedding at the Playhouse. The food, service and willingness of the staff were superb. The quirky nature of the grounds and inside make for an interesting venue.
Visited for lunch Sunday 6th July with 8 other family members. Atmosphere was great, staff very efficient and friendly. The Menu was very comprehensive and very well priced.
The only complaint – if you could call it that, was that the singers were a little overpowering and restricted conversation with our guests.

What an awesome setting!!! From the moment you turn into the drive you just know you are in for a special experience. Driving past lakes with ducks, swans and pukekos, beautiful landscaped gardens, which meander down to separate lakes – the outdoor setting is just magnificent. Inside the cafe/restaurant has a cave-like setting, complete with a stage for their theatre performances. No performance the evening we were there, but a wonderful set up for it.
The meal was divine. The selection is smaller than some restaurants, with about 8-10 mains to choose from. I had the venison, and it was divine. I didn’t care for the selection of vegetables, however the staff were more than happy to change the selection to something I preferred.
Service was great – chatty and friendly. Extensive wine selection, as you would expect in Nelson Bays.
It was quiet the night we were there, as they have only just opened, however this place is going to be buzzing once word gets around about the location, setting and the divine food! I can’t wait until I get to go back there.
