Upmarket prices for a below average meal. We had two cooked breakfasts and 2 flat whites for $47. It was not a big meal, but I still left half of mine on the plate. The Point Cafe should either lower their prices or hire a good chef to justfy the cost of their meals. The restaurant setting is beautiful, good place for a beer, but definately not for a meal.

I went for a meal with my adult family last week. We sat at the table which had been reserved for us and waited for a menu. None appeared so we went and got one from the bar. We were told we had to order from the bar. We had a group of 6 people including one 80 year old. We started looking at the one menu and a staff member appeared and took it off us and told us to go to the bar to look at the menu!!! What would it cost to print off a few extra menus. We decided what we wanted and sent one person to order and were told we couldn’t do that and had to order our own meals. It was all being paid for by one person!!! The meal was finally dumped on the table in front of us. Presentation was awful. Meal was average. Salads were on a side table open to all germs etc and not on a cooler. Don’t know how long they had been there. This place has a monopoly and mostly overseas guests who I am sure would not return. Locals would use it more if it wasn’t so pricey. Why not bar meal prices if there is no table service?

Just spent a week at Kaka Point. When we got there, we found out the restaurant had been closed since Xmas! But 3 days ago it got new owners and it opened up straight away. The food and service was great. Highly recommend the blue cod, it just melts in your mouth.

my friend ordered 2 adult lunches and asked for the childrens meal to be split between 2 plates for her 2 & 4 yr old (as they were huge childrens meals). this was met with much grumbling. then myself & partner ordered our lunches. after a 50 minute wait, and enquiries at the counter, my friend purchased 2 bags of potato chips for her children who were by this time starving and unhappy. they charged us for the potato chips (obviously no sense of guilt for appalling service!). finally mine & partners mains arrived, and the waiter said “i take it you’ve all got your meals now”. the original order of 4 meals still hadn’t even arrived!!! asked for childrens meals to be cancelled, another 20 minute wait and 4 meals arrived (we were told they hadn’t cancelled the orders for kids because they were already being cooked – too bad for them in my opinion!). the much anticipated meals finally arrived, were quite ordinary, with the blue cod being full of bones. not recommended.

Very disappointed. Very expensive considering the standard of the food was poor. I got the pasta which was very bland. The service was slow and poor – they even came and took our garlic bread away before we had finished eating it or even been served our mains! The vegetables that came with our meal were served for the whole table to share in a small bowl – certainly wasn’t enough for us all to share – obviously a cost cutting tactic. We were celebrating a birthday and had bought a novelty cake along – they charged us $20 for the privelege of being able to supply our own cake – expensive considering we still had to cut it and serve it ourselves! I have been to much nicer restaurants where we have done the same thing and never been charged “cakeage”. When delivering our meals to the table the waitress also managed to hit me in the head with the dish – twice! Certainly wouldn’t be back. Have heard nothing but bad comments from other friends and family who have been here too.
