Recently found out that the chefs use to own that roti place on Willis street opposite miabi many years ago.

Ordered a beef murtabak, banana murtabak and a partha with lamb curry. The curry seemed a bit watery. It would have been nice if they offered how spicy we wanted the curry. The chicken curry only came with one piece if white chicken meat. Think it would have better if leg meat was used (not so dry) and more meat was included. Whilst the partha was made fresh to order the curry was heated in a microwave.

Partha was packaged in brown paper bags, whilst the banana roti was wrapped in tin foil, which meant by the time I rushed home the banana partha had gone all soggy :( . Would be nice if they drizzled the banana roti with cinnamon or maple syrup or even a little bit of icing sugar or something. The partha was not as flakey as it could have been, but none the less they did make it fresh unlike some other Indian/Malaysian palaces. Banana used for the partha was ripe, which meant it was sweet and tasty.

I would hate I think how many calories are in a piece of murtabak or partha.

Would I go back again? Most definitely! Need to try the other dishes eg laksa and beef rendang in order to determine how good the food is compared to other places in Wellington.

There are a couple of small tables, but as other reviewers have mentioned its primarily a take away place. I would recommend to phone in your order so you don’t have to wait long. I had to wait 20mins and I placed my order 39 mins before closing.

Have been again in March 2013. I recommend ordering via the phone so you do not have to wait excess of 20 minutes for your food.

It would be nice if they were a proper resturant as the food is always better eaten when it’s just been cooked. If you take it home, the roti etc.. gets a bit soggy – not as nice

Maybe I’m partial to living in Kelburn, but GOD-DARN-IT, if you keep serving up such delicious morsels of heavenly goodness, I am obliged to spread the good word.

Pratha To Go is another example of a take-away where you can get quality Malaysian food. Their pratha are flaky, perfectly greasy discs. You can get them stuffed with veg or meat. Or, you can just order them plain and dunk them in your curry.

Their beef rendang is spectacular as is their mee goreng. Everything is freshly prepared to your order, and one of my favorite things to do is watch the young pratha cook work the dough. He’s got some skills!

Much of the menu is under $20 so you’re not breaking the bank.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience! Obviously by the name of the place, it’s designed for people to take out, so eating there meant we were served with plastic cutlery and a sparsely decorated place, but that kind of thing doesn’t bother me :)

The food was fantastic. I had Chicken Sambal and really enjoyed it, it was nice and spicy and had decent sized pieces of chicken in it.

My flatmate had a laksa which he enjoyed. Both of us were sweating by the end, which is the sign of a good spicy meal by our standards. It looked like they had plenty of less spicy options if spice is not your thing (eg Butter Chicken).

Best Malaysian food in town. Miss their restaurant ‘Roti’ in the city but food still amazing.

I’m addicted to the groper curry! The fish is plentiful and the spices delicious. My son always has the Nasi Goreng; and my husband always orders the lamb curry. We’d like to choose something different, but we always end up eating our favourite dishes! The owners are very gracious – lovely people to deal with.

Awesome food from the chefs ex-Roti. Last time I went I picked up a fish curry and a couple of pratha (roti, basically – sorry if there’s a difference?!) and that was enough food for two adults. Nice big chunks of fish and delicious curry sauce – spicy but not at the expense of tasting great.
