Wellington’s newest pub, called ….The PUB will be opening on the Terrace soon!

The PUB is a Kiwi icon. Its history is deeply entwined with the history of colonisation, the development of local communities, shifting political currents, economic fluctuations, population movements and social and cultural change.

PUBS have been a place to dance; they have hosted wedding receptions and funeral wakes, Christmas dinners and trade union meetings, charity fundraising events, rock bands and folk singers.
The licensee could also be the postmaster, banker, supplier of groceries and petrol.

The PUB is short for Public house, meaning a place to sell alcohol liquor to the passing trade.
