The oldest Tearooms in New Zealand still serving Devonshire Cream Teas, Kiwi Style, Puhoi fashion.
The Puhoi Cottage was 100 years old 3 years ago and has been serving Devonshire Cream Teas for 40 years.
The setting is unique. Puhoi is one of only two ethnically historic villages in New Zealand. It is being protected to preserve its tranquility and beauty. The outlook from the Puhoi Cottage is the Puhoi River Park, the backdrop to Puhoi. Sit on the veranda or in the garden with you tea or coffee and scones or cakes, baked in our own bake house, and in the summer relax to live music played for you every summer Sunday.

Please do not visit this restaurant in a hurry. I was very disappointed after reading other reviews on line. The sandwich bread was stale, the scone not great either and the hot chocolate cold and gross! I paid almost $20 for lunch my daughter and I could not even eat and when I mentioned this to the owner he did not seem to care. Much better places to visit than the neglected tearooms in Puhoi!

What a beautiful spot. What a great Devonshire Tea or Coffee. And the scones are the best I know.

The owner is friendly too.

Highly recommendable when you are about to visit the Puhoi area.
