Really love their Morrocan Beef Salad and Berry Smoothies top marks! Unfortunatley i felt like i was forgotten as my order came out very slowley as others that order after me were served before me. Was slightly annoyed, but food was great

Best cafe in town as far as food is concerned. Come here most weeks

The meal we had was beautiful, we came in on Jan 2nd and it was very busy probably due to the high standard of food and service we received. My young son of 18 months was with us and it was lovely to be welcomed and even given a toy to distract him when he needed it. We will make the Purple lizard a regular stop whenever we are in town. Our compliments to the chef and the staff.

Really dissapointing! I happened to order one couple behind the rest of my table but as they were busy and didnt start cooking for our table till after I had ordered this shouldn’t have matterd, but they must have forgot my order and not realised until they served the rest of my table.
So I ended up getting my meal after everyone at my table had finished eating and instead of apologising and admitting they had missed my order they blamed it on me ordering late which was really unprofessional and instead of getting a cooked tomato as described on the menu I got a raw sliced tomato, obviously to save time.
The rest of my table really enjoyed their meals but it really ruined the experience having them eat and finish their meals before I got mine. Will go somwhere else next time.

Sadly, I can not comment on the food! I wandered in to town to find the doors opening at 7:40, not 7:30 as stated. Then the cook didn’t arrive for another five minutes or so, and wasn’t ready to cook for some time after that. And the barista was running even later.
So… at 8:00 I decided that I really needed some breakfast before going to work, so wandered off to find somewhere a little more organised. Fortunately, this was not difficult.
If the Purple Lizard wants to stay in business, they need to get their act together very soon, and be open ready to take orders by 7:30 if not 7:00.

Most of the food is pretty decent, and they have a full gluten free menu. Have been quite a few times, but the last couple times the food hasn’t been quite up to standard, and the service has been poor. And for a small cafe with simple meals, the food often takes ages. Seems to me the place has been going downhill lately, which is a shame, because I used to enjoy going there, but will probably give it a miss these days.

We were on a family holiday of the South Island and wanted somewhere with nice food and reasonable prices for our family of six. We had great service and the food was lovely we would certainly call again if back in Timaru.
