I took my parents and partner here today as we’d heard great things about the place. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. I ordered a steak rare/medium which came way overcooked. When I brought this to the attention of the waitress, who was very polite and upbeat, she agreed it certainly wasn’t what it should be. The potatoes were also cold which I didn’t mention at the time.

A person came to the table whom I assumed was the owner who proceeded to lecture me on what a medium rare steak was supposed to be like!!! I found this rude and him arrogant. I own a very good restaurant and if I served steak like that I’d have complaints all day. I would never EVER speak to customer like that no matter what the problem was.

The rest of the meals were very average for the price. The open chicken sandwich was more like a salad with chicken.

Sorry, but I won’t be back, nor, given the attitude of the person who came to the table, will I be recommending it to anyone else.

Came in for Fathers day lunch. Staff were very helpful and accommodating for our young child. Wonderful meals, huge helpings, good pricing and very clean. Will definitely be back!

Thoroughly impressed by the service and food. Eating out with 3 small children is often difficult, but the waiter here was very helpful in getting the kids food out quickly. They were happy to find us a highchair & clean it, and the kids menu had some good options other than just the ubiquitous burger & chips. Loved the shaded outdoor table on a hot day too! We had a great deal of difficulty deciding from the adults menu but all mains chosen were delicious and generous. A happy experience (which is often not the case with littlies in tow!) and we would definitely return to try some more of the fabulous food. Well done!

After reading the amazing reviews on MenuMania me and my family were expecting big things when dining at Quarter Acre. Came in Saturday for lunch. Coffee was bitter, luke warm and milk tasted old. My brother ordered a lemon honey and ginger and tasted like half the concentrate had been put in. Once again luke warm. Don’t even get me started on the food. Underwealming. Looked as if no effort had been put in and the trend of under-temperature food and drinks continued. Staff were far from polite and we didn’t even complain! Won’t be back. Must have been a bad day!

Hi Fiona K, I’m sorry to hear about your experience. At the Quarter Acre it is our aim that everyone leaves feeling like they have had a great experience… What is so frustrating for us is when someone such as yourself is unhappy but does not speak up right away….    More »

Stopped in for lunch with my other half. We had eaten here for dinner when it was Stefans, so we were keen to see how the place was now. In one word, fantastic. The wait staff were friendly, smiley, attentive without being overbearing. Decor and seating is clean, and not crowded. Great outdoor seating for the warmer months too. The menu was one of the few I’ve had of late where picking just one thing was truly difficult as there were so many delicious options. We ended up getting the beef burger and an open steak sandwich. The meals were really nice, good portion size, great tasting. The burger is messy though, be warned! But so worth it. The owner popped round to see if we enjoyed our meal, which was a nice touch. We have already decided to drive back tomorrow as there are some things on that menu we don’t want to wait to try! Highly recommended.

We celebrated a family lunch and were impressed with the personal and prompt service. The food was excellent and our birthday girl was surprised by the staff with a plate, iced with birthday greetings and a candle lit chocolate brownie and cream. A generous and much appreciated gesture by the staff of the Quarter Acre.
A memorable lunch and we will be definitely returning soon.

Having been long time fans of the Quarter Acre day menu, we decided to explore their recent offering of evening dining and were richly rewarded. My entree scallops were the largest, juiciest and most tender I have ever eaten. Our beef mains were cooked to perfection and accompanied by mouthwatering microgreens, and the dessert was a sublime persimmon-pear tart accompanied by perfect flat whites.
The wine recommendations complimented each dish and the service was relaxed yet attentive.
The Quarter Acre’s innovative menu will satisfy the most exacting palate and I guarantee you will want to return.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening and our compliments to the chefs, management and staff.

My partner and I treated ourselves with brunch at The Quarter Acre Cafe today… It was an awesome experience! We have been before, for coffee and cake which is always delightful, but today was the first time we ordered breakfast from the menu and we were both impressed. My Eggs Bene (‘Bene our way’) was gorgeous….I have now set that dish in my mind as my birthday treat! Hope it stays on the menu! All aspects of our experience were excellent, great friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, timely service, divine coffee, hot delicious food, created with quality fresh ingredients. I highly recommend this cafe!!!

This is often the place I go when meeting friends for lunch and it is always a good experience. Great food and friendly staff. The big mugs for the hot drinks are a nice touch and the cakes and muffins are always yummy.

Fantastic, relaxing setting, cosy on cold days and great oudoor setting when sunny.

Have had both blackboard and cabinet food and both are tasty. Only suggestion would be some more panini or filled rolls as sometimes the cabinets can be low, and if you dont want to pay more for the menu food you can feel a bit stuck.

We have been to Quarter Acre cafe for lunch many a time. Today we decided to go for breakfast for the first time and as usual the food was exceptional. The owner and staff are very pleasant and go the extra mile for you.
It’s a shame they are not open for dinner as I think that is what we need around here.

Had lunch at the Quarter Acre Cafe today, went with a group and the staff arranged tables for us, our meals were excellent, the fire was going on a very cold day, a very pleasant experience. Their menu is great. Coffee could have been a touch hotter. Will be back

Went to the Quarter Acre for a private function and the actually cafe was quite hard to find through the gardening shop. Not very noticeable. Also there wasn’t a lot of large tables for the amount of people that we had and it felt very cramped. Some of my guest felt that there was not a lrage selection of options on the menu and some felt it wasn’t as described as there seemed to be more salad than meat in some cases. Overall it was an ‘ok’ experience once we found the cafe.

Went to the Quarter Acre cafe tonight for their first evening service. We regularly attend for breakfast or lunch and so were keen to try an evening meal. We were not disappointed. The food was exceptional and we can highly recommend the berry and white chocolate bread and butter pudding! Not only was the food tasty and well presented but good value too and all with the usual great customer service that we have accustomed too.
