Girlfriend and I had a `late lunch’ on Saturday, first time patrons.
Great atmosphere. good size tables. Great service, nice food, served right through with same waitress. (and she had a smile on!)
Will be back with our men for a night meal.

I came here last Friday night in a group of five, we had pre booked our table just in case and I’m glad to say it was an awesome experience Although it was a busy Friday night, our orders were taken quickly and efficiently and the time we waited for our food was not very long at all! I got the lamb rump, and the lamb was cooked amazingly well. Everyone enjoyed their meals and they were quite surprised by the huge size of them but everyone was determined to finish because it was so delicious! I would definitely recommend this to everyone, and i’m definitely going back there myself!!

We came here for dinner last Wednesday night after viewing the menu during the day and finding it to our liking. We were very impressed by the pleasant, helpful, attentive staff and the meals and desserts were devine. I really couldn’t fault this place and will definitely be back again.

Had a wonderful lunch here for my birthday. Husband had the steak hash stack. I had the Crispy skinned salmon. Loads of other meals I want to try the next time we pop in for lunch. Great to have a place where I can have a Snap fitness approved meal too.

I have to give a 5 star because I couldn’t fault my evening.
Although after reading the reviews I was a bit concerned about what to expect but Rain Bar is our local and I’m big on supporting local business. We were immediately greeted by a friendly young man who gave us a choice of seating (didn’t book), the menu and new beers were explained to us, our waitress was fantastic, the food was prompt and like I said faultless, my husbands steak was cooked to perfection and the deserts were to die for, and pricing- very comparable to any where else, we were two very satisfied customers! We will sure be back!

It once was good and we did go regularly (once a week at least as was our local). Service has gone downhill as had the food at our last visit so we won’t be rushing back.

On a wet Sunday my partner and I decided to drive the 20ks to go have lunch at the rainbar.
We were seated and waited and waited so after 15 mins we had to ask can we please order? Our order was finally taken, the place was not full.
The waitresses were standing around talking and had no get up and go about them, even the table beside us had to go and get them to place their order.
Couldnt fault the meal it was devine, after our meal we decided we would like to look at menu again to order desert, once again i had to ask the waitress walking past can we please order a desert, her comment was i will get menu for you, once again we waited and waited and watched the girl lean over the bar talking to the guy behind it.
We never received the menu after being very patient so we got up and left.
The service was very poor, will not be going back very disappointing, and it wasnt cheap, food and drinks expensive.

Food is ok but not for the price. Great place to drink after work but “happy hour” is still expensive

(Short and simple) over priced over cook eye fillet under saused mussels and ribs, long wait, average service…. Have to say more so $30+ for over cooked chewy steak $22 for wat taste like just boiled mussels and bout $25 for fatty ribs

7/1/12 went for breakfast with my husband. Staff was very nice and served quick, as the place was almost empty. My egg Benedict was 9/10 and my husband’s big breakfast 9.5/10. Oh yes, we are coming back for dinner tonight!

Same day went for dinner for 6 people, with friends and family. Although the restaurant was full, the staff was polite and caring and did everything they could. Atmosphere was 7/10, would be lot better if there was some background music. For starters we had garlic bread 2/10 ( it was burnt and soggy), seafood chowder 9/10 (recommended) and salmon gravlax was 10/10, best ever gravlax! Boys had nachos, the plate was huge and they rated it 10/10.
then we were waiting our mains for ages and they came and told us they run out of pork dish (for my husband) and duck dish for me. We reordered fish and waited for a while. then they told me that they run out of fish too. I reordered third time and i had risotto, which had beautiful flavour, but appeared a bit too salty for me 8/10. People who had steak, rated it 9/10. Steak did look great! While i was waiting, i had a few cocktails, pina colada 7/10 and cosmopolitan 9.5/10. I was given 1 free cocktail on the house to ease my disappointment about orders.

We had lunch at Rain on Saturday and were REALLY disappointed. From the sandwich selection I chose the fish, thinking it would be the healthy option. It consisted of a very fatty piece of deep fried fish! For $22 I would have done better going to a fish and chips shop.

My husband had the beef burger and thought it was really stodgy too.

We have eaten here quite often, but it has never been this bad before.

Had lunch on a mid week. Service reasonably good. Main course – quality and presentable average. Desserts – good. Atmosphere – pleasant. Overall experience – pleasant.

Tonight, 6 regular customers were driven out of the Rain bar by four young loud kids whose parents had no control over them. We are all regular customers, who spend time and our money two or three times a week, every week.
We are very disappointed that o staff member talked to the kids parents. In fact we were apologised to by staff members.
Very disappointing. Do you want regular, paying customers or a kindergarten??

Perfect place to go watch the rugby and have a drink! Have also had meals there and they are fantastic

Always wanted to try new cocktails but too shy to ask. They have a huge menu board up on differnt cocktails so that was great. Definately loving the Chocolate Storm!!!
Only probablem I had was that its too far out to be my local!!!!!! Other than that would highly recommend!!

Awesome service !!! We had a great meal and as an added bonus were thrilled to win the lovely bottle of wine that they give away each week. Thoroughly recommended !

Went in May 2009, Monday night, phoned to request a table and was very politely told “no need, we’re not flat out on a Monday night, so we shall just expect you sometime in the half hour you’ve requested” which was lovely. Great atmosphere, relaxed, very friendly staff who didn’t bug you every five minutes, limited but good choice in menu. Calamari was lovely, mussels were really good, Prawns were average (met expectation) but weren’t served at same time as other entrees as requested. Chicken & Steak mains were good, however, costs extra for veges.
Would dine here again happily.

Went for first time last weekend. Love that this is a 21 and up bar. Great spot for Fri nights, great food, atmosphere, service and the dj rocks. So nice to have a place to go without having to deal with rowdy teenagers.

Great local – fantastic pub for a quick meal – pasta, ribs1 good wine list, friendly service , fresh food.

Best place I’ve ever been to in New Zealand. Great food, Great atmosphere, Great Place!!!
