Having eaten in nearly all the Indian restaurants in Ch-ch, as well as many overseas, it is my opinion that the Raj Mahal is one of the best. I judge this mainly because of the consistent quality of their food, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.

I would admit that the food should be nice as even Indians crowded the restaurant. Thus, my bf and I stepped into and ordered quite a few dishes. While waiting for the long queue, I went to the washroom and spotted something. A clean wok was put on a rubbish bin and it is put just beside the cooking area. I wonder what would u feel about it. As a food auditor, this is totally unacceptable as rubbish bin is a non food contact surfaces. We politely told the manager about it and cancelled all our orders. But I am very disappointed that he did not apologise and willing to take action about it. Also he underestimate me of being too sensitive and picky until the time I show my name card. But no matter what identity I am, customers come first.

I love Indian food especially because I have grown up eating Indian in England. But finding a good Indian restaurant is always tricky. I was lucky this time. Raj Mahal was great. Nice and clean place, staff was helpful and food tasted true Indian.

Great place. Will be back when I am in Christchurch.

I asked for a mild curry, and i get something that got me in tears!! so spicy!
so i go back and ask for a really mild one, get it exchanged and the curry is same spicy..
never going again.

the best indian we have ever had! friendly service. the chicken is so moist =] we like the traditional music. =]
