Lovely Sunday summer lunch – eaten outdoors, nice fresh cabinet food, friendly and efficient service. Tables well spaced out, mix of shady and sunny spots or indoor seating, local coffee beans, clean toilets, handy car-parking and a small store where you can purchase berries to take home afterwards. Couldn’t fault the Raspberry Cafe – the only downside would be its popularity, but as they take bookings (especially for larger groups), this can be managed too.

This afternoon we took some of our lady residents to the Raspberry Cafe. It was the first time we have taken residents there.
We had fast & very friendly service, in fact the staff could not have done better – they bent over backwards to help.
The food was lovely, it was enjoyed by all of us. Also nicely presented. Very soon after arriving we were served our food & drink – yummy. Some of our ladies also bought scones to take home. We were impressed with the containers the scones were put in.
Our ladies enjoyed a lovely afternoon, we will be back with another load of residents sometime in the future. Thank you
Raspberry Cafe.

Although the food at the Raspberry Cafe is fairly good, twice now we have been let down with such slack service that we will not bother again.

We had to ask for service after finally being seated (our table was not vacated by the time of our booking – probably they also had slooooooow service), then waited ages for our order to be taken. Our food (nothing strenuous, open sandwiches and the like) took 45 minutes to arrive, plates waited on the table for a long time after also.

We had to go inside to ask for drinks as no one bothered to ask us if we wanted any.

When we asked to see the dessert menu, the waitress put the chalkboard in front of us, another customer asked if her could take the board and she said yes! When she *finally* returned to take our order we said that she let the menu be taken away so we needed to see it again, she was not amused and tutted. NOT great customer service.
My dessert (meringue with strawberries) was simple but delicious – however was let down by a rather large insect being baked on the surface of the meringue. The top surface. How none of their staff/cooks noticed this is beyond me. No one came to collect our dishes, or give us a bill. We could have just walked out and I doubt anyone would have stopped us! One of us went to pay the bill (at 12.30 booking, we ended up paying after 3pm) and mentioned the insect issue, we were not charged for the dessert thankfully.

In summary – 7.5/10 for food, 2/10 for service.
We gave them a second chance, but we won’t be giving them a third.

We held our Mum’s 70th birthday in April 2012 at The Raspberry Cafe in the marquee, which was great because some of the side-flaps could be opened to allow fresh air to come in while we enjoyed the lovely sunshine.
The staff were fantastic, e-mailing us a menu in advance on request, dealing with change in numbers, and on the day accommodating some late arrivals in a professional and friendly manner. When my nephew dropped a bottle of drink on the floor, they had someone to clean it up right away.
The food was absolutely scrumptious, and the meals for the 20-odd guests were served close together (we did book in advance). The staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem. Thank you to The Raspberry Cafe for making my Mum’s birthday such a special day!

Lovely outdoor garden setting, tempting looking food. :)
However seemed to wait a very long time for a very ordinary salad. Had a soccer ball land in my plate while eating. :(
Appreciate the child friendly atmosphere but doubt that I will return

We had a fabulous afternoon at the Raspberry Cafe in May 2010. We were in a party of 18 people and the service and food was outstanding.
The menu offered a great selection, the service was fast and efficient and a lovely glass of bubbles free on Mothers Day – what more could we ask for?
An excellent play area for the children outside, and books and games for inside.

Highly recommended for a wonderful day out!

We have enjoyed the hospitality of this restaurant/cafe on a large number of occasions. The extensive menu is ideal for brunch/lunch and they also cater for coffee and muffins/scones.
We find the staff extremely accommodating and service is always with a smile. Reasonble prices and a great place to take children adds to the appeal of The Raspberry Cafe.

I took some clients to the Raspberry Cafe for lunch yesterday (Sunday afternoon) as it had been recommend by several people. the food is great, unfortunately thats all the positive feedback I have.

We rang and made a booking on the Wednesday prior as had tried the previous weekend only to find it fully booked. When we arrived at 1.30 we had to wait at the counter for several minutes before anyone even acknowledged that we were standing there. Then they couldn’t find our booking, fortunately we were at the later end of the lunch setting so were able to get a table outside in the sun.

Once at the table we had to choose what we want for lunch then go back up to the cafe to order (no waitresses for orders, just to deliver food). Next our drinks came out, as the girl was attempting to place the tray on our table she slipped and spilt all the drinks over my guest, not only that, in his efforts to avoid the drinks he lent back on his plastic warehouse type chair and the chair buckled underneath him leaving him on the ground with beer and wine all over him. The waitress (who must have been new) just stood, watched and apologized while the remaining contents of the beer bottle continued to pour over our table. she then picked up the half glass of wine that was left and said ‘would you like me to get you another one?’ (of course we wanted new drinks) She did apologise and replaced our drinks but we still payed full price for everything and barely even got an apology. needless to say I won’t be taking clients to the Raspberry cafe again.

On the up side the food came out fairly quickly and it was a pretty good meal and the desserts are great.

On a sunny day this is a lovely place to brunch/lunch at. Ten minute drive south of Halswell, turn left at Old Taitapu Road off Main Sth Road and travel south to Rhodes Road. Look out for raspberry sign on roadside.

A group of my friends went here on a Sunny Sunday and the meal was awesome the setting was fabulous unfortunately they have the most frustrating and stupid setup of not only do you have to pay inside but you have to order inside. So the line inside was miles long. It took 50mins to order and another 40min to pay! What a disappointment to a lovely meal. If you want to do other things in the day I suggest you go elsewhere!!
