Nice food and coffee but would have been nice to be told that the pancakes were not available before we ordered. Also being offered coffee instead of having to get up to order it would be good. Pity the Entertainment book voucher wasn’t valid for Mothers Day so we’ll have to go back another day.

Went back to Ravenhill after some time. Ordered 2 poached eggs on Turkish bread. The plate was stone cold. The eggs were clear and the yolk cold. The Turkish bread was also cold. In the past I have always enjoyed eating breakfast in the window of the old butcher shop. Not this time. The marble window eating area was shared with many dead flies and other assorted insects. Quite frankly the eating surface was filthy and I doubt the books and mags had been moved for some time for a good clean underneath. I was impressed that there was no surcharge for the long weekend, however other than a couple of take out coffee customers I was on my own. It’s a great spot, sorry to see the standards have slipped to this level. Perhaps invest in a dust buster to suck up the corpses.

bit disappointed with service, coffee luke warm, and i paid $12 for a piddly little egg and two bits of bread, the waitress seemed more concerned about her precious self than listening to a customer placing an order,

Bought a living social voucher for a gourmet platter and two glasses of wine for lunch. CHose the seafood platter and was expecting some nice fresh seafood and salad but what we got was really disappointing!! Everything deep fried, processed and tasting the same – even at a deal, not worth the money it cost! Trouble is we thought it would be on par with their really awesome breakfasts, so we bought two deals!! Hopefully the other platters will be better!!

I’ve been to this place many times, quite like the atmosphere. The new waitress is very friendly, the coffee is as good as last time. My partner likes the new chicken pasta, very tasty. Definitely we will visit it again.

Very disappointed with the food and the service!!
I was served by a young lady who didn’t have a clue about NZ customer service !!
Coffee was poor and when I popped my poached eggs water came gushing out which made my bread soggy !!
BLA !

The 2 stars is for the food only. It was edible, but not particularly hot.
Service was awful the waitress was not happy and it seemed liked she was doing us a favour being there.
Won’t go back to Ravenhill. Nicer places around.

This has been my regular cafe for 20 years. I have been through changes of ownership, management, names etc. Kelly and Ash have surpassed all previous owners for consistency in menu quality, consistently good coffee and friendly and attentive service. They get my genuinely critical 5 stars.

My wife and I enjoyed the most leisurely brunch at Ravenhill this afternoon.
Ravenhill enjoys a corner position in an old tiled butchers shop on Hinemoa st, one of the most picturesque streets heading towards the point.
Sitting outside we enjoyed a croque madam ( carved leg ham and melted cheese on toast with a fried egg )was yummy although I do prefer it a little more in the traditional French style – and Creamed mushrooms on a healthy and nutritious whole grain toast which my wife exclaimed to be delicious. Coffee never to be overlooked was “Millers” and did the trick perfectly of waking us up with a deep dark roast cup of liquid flavour.

Having heard about Ravenhill through a friend me and my wife decided to go for lunch. We were greeted by a a very polite young man who seated us with menus and water promptly. My wife went for the portobello mushrooms and i had the salt beef hash, both meals were exceptionally good and well presented. We will defiantly recommend the food and the coffee was great too.

We had a very nice birthday dinner there with a group of friends. Pleasant environment and good food. I recommend the restaurant.

Expensive. Food just OK. Breads were dry and tasteless. No vegetables served with main course worth mentioning (heap of mash, 3 or 4 chick peas, and 1 mushroom). Steak was OK. Worst thing – menu said “tea/coffee” – when several guests asked for a black coffee, staff refused outright and said they made white only. As “white” is black with white on top, surely it would not have been too much trouble to serve black??? Not impressed at all.
