This is the second time we have eaten here, this time it was very disappointing. The atmosphere and service was still great but the food this time was not. We both ordered the black pudding and bacon stack for $17.50. The black pudding was not cooked long enough and was barely warm in the middle. The Scottish potato cakes it was served on were also under cooked and soggy. I would also have expected to see more than one slice of bacon on a black pudding and bacon stack.

We stopped and had lunch here last Monday, mainly because it was one of the few places actually open and serving on a Monday … many cafes seem to take it off.
The place was well presented, a wee bit faded glory I guess, but clean and well laid out, and with plenty of good seating.
I was still struggling with the after effects of a very unpleasant visit to the dentist the week before, meaning that I did not want anything chewy so I opted for the seafood risotto – and it was a very good choice.
Fresh scallops, fish chunks and shrimp are scattered through a very tasty and buttery bowl of rice – it was delicious and just what I wanted.
My partner had a chicken Dukkah salad, and also declared that it was tasty and hit the spot.
Quick service meant that we were in and out in about 30 minutes, and the total cost was a modest $35 for the pair of us.
So it was quick, cheap and very tasty – just what you want from a roadside cafe. I’ll definitely visit again.

We eat here as often as we can. Great lamb sandwich (why are so many eateries dropping lamb from there menu?). Friendly staff and great variety.
I have had the pleasure of discovering the Red House Cafe recently, and have been calling in almost every week day for coffee (OMG, the lemon meringue pie is heaven!) as well as sampling the splendid menu for several dinners as well. I’m telling everyone about it!! All the staff are absolutely awesome, particularly Peter and Erin – I’ve met you both the most. I call in to the cafe during the last stretch of what is a really long day and it is such a wonderful wee oasis. Your food is stunning, flawlessly presented, created to perfection and the service is friendly, warm, welcoming, and the decor is perfect! I cannot imagine anyone not wanting to come back and try something else on offer from your menu. I cannot rate this cafe highly enough – everyone who’s come in with me has said the same thing, so WELL DONE to all of you. See you again very soon!

Have eaten lunches / morning teas here a couple of times. Service always friendly, food always tasty. Tables not crammed in, and plenty of variety.
As a treat for my aunt and cousin i asked them to pick a restaurant they had always wanted to go to this how we ended up at the red house, we all enjoyed our evening very much the food is well priced tasty and nicely presented. We where all well impressed with the fact that there was a free bailyes at the end of the meal for a couple of mistakes made during the evening
