I love Rhubarb! We go there quite a lot and I always love the cosmopolitan vibe, the food is always wonderful and the coffee superb. Sitting there enjoying the Roslyn buzz is always a treat, the service is great and as for Sam well I have always found him pleasant, I think he just has a very dry sense of humour!

Fairly nice local cafe. Some of the cakes are pleasant and tea is good. Wouldn’t drive here especially but good if your in the neighbourhood.

Oh so good to finally find a consistently good coffee! Also got some great advice on wine for a couple of gifts (and for me). Am having to wean myself off the brownie though. Too damn good! Great staff as well, always smiling and friendly.

Pleasnt atmosphere, smiling staff except the overweight scowling male behind the counter, excellent choice in menu, great coffees, wine bar as well, recommended.

Just visited for the first time. We were told a table should be available any second when after waiting 20 minutes it bacame clear that this was clearly untrue. Everyone else was waiting for their food too. The man taking orders at first ignored us when we tried to get his attention. When we finally spoke to him he was terribly rude and dismissive right off the bat. They could not provide a space for us to sit but he was very unwilling to cancel our order. When we finally managed to get a refund, we later noticed that he had shortchanged us! That just summarised the whole experience – rude, dismissive, incompetent and wholly unpleasant staff. Please Avoid if you actually want to enjoy your time eating out.

Coffee shop food, and OK for what it is. The only place I know of that can burn chips which are still raw on the inside!
The cream plastic seats are starting to look dated, they’re tatty and could do with a good clean. The cafe has great potential, but lacks ambience.
But the worst part of this place is the chap who runs the place. He’s sour-faced and scowled at us when we first walked in. He took our order OK, but hey, a smile don’t cost nothing!

How can you rate this place as 3.5 star; it is clearly the best in Dunedin and thoroughly deserving of at least a 5 star rating.

The food was beautiful, service great & the coffee was good. And the wine selection superb. Loved it.

Very enjoyable for something light to eat or just a coffee. Pleasant staff and surroundings.
I’ve been here a couple times now and both times the coffee was hideous, bitter and burnt. I wont be given them the benefit of the doubt again!

Wow -I’d read the Cuisine review so decided to check it out while in Dunedin on business…..Definitely worth the trip “up the hill” to Rhubarb – and (for the tea lover) they even have Lady Grey tea (if you ask nicely….)
