Love this place
I travel up for the fieldays every year & always make sure to stop in at Rouge at least once, the coffee is always divine – one of the best flat whites I’ve ever had – if not the best
& the chicken sandwich on rye bread equally as awesome. See you guys again in June!!
Have visited this cafe 4 times now on either Sat or Sun and every time, despite having the same meal – it is prepared different! No consistency with this particular meal but then every time a different cook. Ordered mushrooms on toast and asked specifically that the toast be well done so that don’t end up with soggy bread. Unfortunately after waiting at least 20 -min for food and cafe not busy at all – we got the wrong bread with the meal and it was lightly toasted and basically just bread – not what I had asked for. Wasn’t really interested in eating this and it’s a pity my husband ate some of my bread because he was hungry and after waiting so long for food we weren’t exactly going to send it back and wait longer. The mushrooms also different every time – yesterday they were sliced so thinly that you could not even taste them – only the sauce. I think in the portion that we got there were about 3 mushrooms on each plate. My coffee (not very hot) arrived first and my husbands followed minutes later. Not acceptable since we should both be served together. Will not be going back.

We have had consistently good food and wonderful service from the rouge team. A great atmosphere. I am looking forward to being there when they next have entertainers in the courtyard.

Last week we sat down and had a lovely Greek Salad and chilled Fegoia Juice here. We sat outside away from smokers on the edge of the dining area. It was very nice. The Salad fresh and the Juice very chilled. A lovely time for a dad and son to spend together.

We live in Cambridge and always enjoy the atmosphere service and quality of food. A very nice place to just chill and enjoy a moment.

Went for a coffee to be told a group had booked all the inside tables at a specified timing (now) and seating only outside in the cold and wet. We ordered, and it appeared the group may never have arrived, and we naturally froze. Nobody came out to explain the changes and we enjoyed each others company, but left wondering why the empty tables were inside and other customers were left out in the cold.

My apologies, it was an unfortunate incident (quite some time ago now, too). But the booking did eventually show up, very late.
We now also refuse to take bookings for more than 10 inside, for this reason.

I will not be going to this cafe again. $8 for a latte bowl is absolutely ridiculous!!! I live in Auckland and I have never paid any more than $6 for a big latte bowl. Come on Waikato, I know Cambridge caters for the snobs but get real with your pricing; I thought you took pride in the fact that you were better than Auckland? Have placed a status update on Facebook to make sure none of my friends (who are avid coffee drinkers who travel regularly) get caught going to this over-priced up themselves cafe.

I’m very sorry that this wasn’t explained at the time that you ordered. Our normal proceedure is to show customers the bowl. You’d have seen that it is very large, over half a litre!
We use twice the quantity of coffee, and more than twice the amount of milk,…

Great coffee and service. Food fab. Only gripe is it can be a little noisy and crowded on cold days but suppose that is a sign of a good place and just have to hope they expand.
