Moa Original on tap, international and NZ, “crafty” beers and wine, small plates, steak, seafood and desserts.
After work drinks, before dinner aperitifs, after movie hot chocolates and desserts.
Kumeu/Huapai now has a winebar – with a good choice of wines, great small plates – the “crispy pork belly” and salt and pepper squid are just rocking out the door, well priced mains – the marsala chicken is delish, and our steaks are most excellent as well! – we are BYO Wine in the restaurant, and have a great choice of craft beers without dumping the big breweries, so the die hard Lion, Heineken etc drinkers are catered for as well :)

We visited Ruby’s on Friday evening for Dinner and were very pleased with all aspects of the service that we received. The meals we were served were excellent and they were nice and hot when we got them. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. A very good experience all round and I would recommend Ruby’s to any of my friends. A great local restaurant.

What a treat to have Ruby’s in our local area! We visited on a Saturday night without a reservation and even though the restaurant was extremely busy we were warmly welcomed and seated without fuss. All four of us agreed that our meals were delicious, well presented and cooked to perfection. The great selection of beverages and meals are definitely value for money while the atmosphere, décor and efficient but friendly staff combined to make it a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience and one we will return again and again for. Well done!

Living just around the corner from Ruby’s we were excited when it re opened and have been down a few times for drinks, nibbles or dinner. It’s a great place for a quiet drink and the food is good. The staff are attentive, efficient, eager to please and always have a smile on their faces. I would certainly recommend it to all age groups. A great place for groups as well.

We are doing our best to become a destination for locals looking for “a local”, rather than having to drive into the city, so your comments are much appreciated :)    More »

I’m generally a glass half full person, but this restaurant is not good. To be fair it’s changed hands and been renamed at least three times in recent history. On our visit we were the only ones there though it was 5pm. It didn’t smell too good, like old fat or something. I found it a bit off putting. The lone waitress tried her best to smile and be pleasant but you got the impression even she was saying ‘Run!’ through her eyes lol. We had a shared tapa plate. Everything was pretty over cooked, rubbery calamari etc. It’s a shame. We like eating local but this is not good, not good at all.
The other small thing was when we left, in a hurry and hoping this wasn’t going to hit us later that night, when you look at the outside -Ruby’s and the big lipstick kisses on the wall kinda makes it look like..well, a brothel.
