We dined here last week however it is nowhere near as good as The Thai Village. The food was average and the service slow and the decor nothing to write home about. We won’t be going back.
We have dined here on several occasions recently and have not been disappointed, extensive menu, hot plates, attentive Staff,BYO and beautiful decor.

Had a terrible meal there. A duck curry where the duck was practically friend into a jerky. A tough, sorry looking jerky. I decided to put up with it as we had vouchers so didn’t think we should complain, but when I mentioned it upon leaving the manager was rather antagonistic. Won’t be going back again.

Went on Sat with 2 friends. Was a bit dubious because of the poor reviews so made sure food would be ” tasty” enough by ordering medium ” Thai.” We were all impressed with our meals…one of us ordered something not on the menu..he was delighted with the response and the meal when it arrived. One of my fussiest friends pronounced her meal beautiful and mine(Penang curry) was just how I wanted it. We will go back. BYo an advantage as were the lovely hot plates and attentive service.

Disappointing – i have tasted best Thai food elsewhere – but fair to say the staff was friendly. Seeing red at being charged for quarter glass of red glass of wine – it was utterly a rip off and also charged for rice separately – shouldn’t that come with the meal? sorry wont eat there again.

This is one of the best Thai restaurants in Auckland. We’ve been going for years and the quality of the meal and service has never changed and is always excellent. This is a great meal destination and its run by a lovely lady owner called Amy. For us locals who love it we go weekly to enjoy the food and to “not cook” for the night. It’s a cheap and great alternative to a meal at home. Great takeaways too. Added advantage of BYO! It’s a must try!

Disappointing food, friendly service, nice location. Sabai Sabai is yet another example of a Thai restaurant in Auckland which serves watered down, tasteless food and passes it off as Thai. It isn’t Thai food. Real Thai food delivers fragrant, fresh, exciting flavours and is a pleasure to eat. It’s just a shame that it’s become so hard to find in Auckland as most Thai restaurants here seem to cater to watered down palettes.
To all you Thai restaurants out there: take a tip and PLEASE serve us real Thai food as you would eat it yourselves. Trust me, Kiwis will learn to love it. I do.

Some time ago I came to the conclusion that going to Thai restaurants in Auckland is pointless. You can get the same quality food at any of the countless food courts around town, at half the price. Sabai Sabai just confirmed that.
The food was nice enough, just not interesting. At all. In fact, the most interesting thing was the ridiculous price of the dessert – $12 for one small scoop of very average vanilla icecream and half a dozen lychees.
The coffee was surprisingly good, though I doubt anyone would make a trip to a Thai restaurant for coffee.
So, if you want nice enough food, and don’t mind paying a premium for a pleasant environment (though to be fair it is a lot cheaper than other Thai restaurants out there), by all means go to Sabai Sabai. I’ll stick to the food courts.

We ordered takeaways from Sabai Sabai and have to say we were not impressed. We love Thai food and are not afraid of a bit of heat but the flavour was poor in all the dishes we had.
The spring rolls and fish cakes were fine, albeit a little tasteless. The Tom Yum Goong was far too salty. The duck red curry had great duck but again was too salty and not much flavour. The pork, chilli and basil again was pretty flavourless.
Sorry to say we won’t be going back and can’t understand the good reviews on this site (we based our decision to go there on those reviews).

.We love good Thai food so decided to try this restaurant.
It lived up to our high expectations and we had a thoroughly enjoyable night for a very reasonable price.
The ingredients were fresh, tasty and well presented.
My only quibble was that some of the dishes were very mild – even when they had two chillies as a medium rating. Even some extra fresh chillies did not lift it much! We like the heat one down from ‘Thai hot’ so perhaps we have got used to the heat!!
Still, it was excellent with friendly and helpful staff. It can clearly be recommended for good food.

This would be one of the best Thai Restaurants I have been to, the duck is to die for. The staff are very helpful and friendly and go out of there way to please.Whether it has been for a quite dinner for 2 or a work function we have not been disappointed. You would have to go a long way to find better.

This is a fantastic restaurant. The service is great and the people friendly. The place is cosy yet spacious, very clean with good lighting. and then there is the best Thai food I have tasted. Sabi Sabi has an expansive menu and the dishes cooked as requested to suit your taste. The Duck is my favorite. Try it you wont be disappointed

We love Sabai Sabai. The service and food are outstanding and the ambience is casual yet intimate. My husband enjoys the duck and I love all the seafood dishes.
We had been hunting for a great Thai restaurant since returning from living in Hong Kong. We’ve been to Thailand many times and went to the others in our local area but there is a tendency in Auckland to serve up sweet, oily “farang” Thai. That’s a pity given our Pacific location so close to Asia. Sabai Sabai was a revelation. Lovely fresh Thai flavours, fabulous staff. Thankfully for us our search is over! You won’t be disappointed. The service from the friedly owners is as good as the food.
