The food quality was excellent. The menu was not as comprehensive as one would expect. The wine list was extensive , but definitely overpriced. For the money that this restaurant charges I would expect air conditioning and double glazing at least.As this place is on the course of the Ch Ch Boy racers the noise from the road is loud and the restaurants use of opening a side door to let some air through is just poor. The attitude of the wine wait staff was appalling (arrogant was the word most used by our party of 5). He topped up a glass of Sav from our bottle of Riesling, when we pointed this out his attitude was to replace the glass of Sav , but not the Riesling. When you are paying $12-$20 a glass of wine this is very poor indeed. It is his attitude that will preclude our dining group from returning.

I make sure I dine at Saggio di vino every time I visit Christchurch (for over 10 years now.)
I’ve had consistently fine, excellent food EVERY time I’ve had the pleasure to eat here. Saggio feature seasonal produce from some of NZ’s best.
The staff are attentive with out hovering over you during the evening.
And as for the wine lists – well thought out with some smaller boutique wineries from NZ or the cellar list features wines from all over the world.
Exceptional.

completely overated-RUDE,RUDE host-rude staff-we were seated beside the cutlery trolley…The food was bland…Would not return-ever!!!

Best Wine Bar in NZ….food is wonderful but pricey and the portions are not overly big…still right at the top of my list of favourite CHC reataurants though
