Sal’s pepperoni pizza – maybe there is a god after all. If there is, she eats Sal’s pepperoni pizza. I cant vouch for the vege pizza that they have, because Im not missing an opportunity to worship at the pepperoni altar. Once I had to wait for ages to worship, and they dished me out a couple of free garlic knots. Wow – they were worth the pizza wait. Yes they often cant deliver because they’re flat out. There’s a reason.

If only I knew what the pizza was like! A group of 10 of us were having an after work meeting and thought it would be great to order pizza. My colleague rang and asked for delivery, the flustered guy said they were too busy for delivery and hung up on her. We thought it must be a joke and rang back to clarify and if we had to we would pick up. The guy hung up on me as well. Unbelievable! Just because we are on the phone does not mean we aren’t customers. All of the group were so shocked at the attitude and none of us will return.
I ended up ringing back again and telling the guy how poor his attitude to customers was.
Madness!

This is about as close to New York pizza you will get without having to go there. The pepperoni pizza is just awesome with a beer. I just wish they had some genuine American beer to top off the experience.

The only thing I have to whine about are the cabinets of pizza. They’re pretty open and while they are heated in the oven, it seems a little dirty to just put them in a room temperature display cabinet?

Anyway, I highly recommend this place and the pepperoni scrolls are a must.

The first time, I had the pepperoni pizza and the size and the quantity was worth it all.. It was an interesting day and we were having a debate on certain topics… the arrival of the pizza actually put a dead end to the topics and we all were concentrating on the pizza… This is the Best pizza i had in auckland and wishes the price was a lil more student friendly… even then i would still love to go there for more pizzas…

Awesome pizza. Best pizza I’ve had since I lived in New York. Cheese is imported from USA and has the authentic taste of a real New York City pizza pie!!!! Pepperoni rolls are excellent as well. Parking can be a pain..but, well worth the hassle.

We travel from Hamilton just for the pizza. We love the simplicity. The ingredients are exceptional. Nothing like a pepperoni and pitcher of beer. Don’t change a thing! Have you considered coming to Hamilton?

Got the sausage pizza with extra mushrooms, thought price was a bit hefty for extra mushrooms but there were plenty on there. Pizza was great, base was superb, not an authentic Napoli pizza base, definitely a NY base and would beat many of the bases in NY. The sauce was full of flavour, the savoury herbs mixed with the sweetness of the tomato. Its been a while since I have picked up a pizza slice and folded its sides. One pizza would feed 3-4 adults easily, overall great pizza and great value.

I have been to Sals twice, the first time around – it was quiet, so the pizza was absolutely fabulous. Loved it. Second time we went, they were incredibly busy, so the dough was very floury, as they were in a rush. Didn’t taste as great as the first but still pretty good.

One disgusting thing I noticed, while waiting for my pizza, was a young female worker, who rubbed her hands through her hair, flicked her bangs from her face, and rubbed her mouth. When a customer chose a slice from the warmer, she took it with the same hand she had been running through her hair. I felt sick – and was very grateful she didn’t touch our pizza.

Very unhygienic, to the point of putting me off my pizza. Sorry Sals. Please give your staff hairnets, and a lesson in basic hygiene. Not a good look, when she is working front counter, and carrying on like this.

I have had Sal’s pizza a few times and it is the best you are going to find in NZ. I used to work and live in Manhattan and I after getting used to the pizza I found most pizza outside of NY is cr@p. Sal’s is as close as you are going to get without going to NY. Go figure I had to move to NZ to get good NY style pizza

I haven’t been to NY, but I can say that this pizza is delicious, and so are the scrummy garlic knots they sell. Just wish I lived in the city so I could eat it more often!

The real deal. As close as you are going to get to NY pizza in NZ. And yes, I have lived in NY, and no, I am not the owner. Hands down the best pizza in Auckland.
