Went there for the first time yesterday and was very disappointed with the service we received. Website says they close at 10pm. We reached there by 9.15 pm. They were in a hurry to make us order. When finally we ordered, food was not great.. though expensive. They even charge for pappad, and rice that you get free in other Indian restaurants. Very disappointed with the service, never going there again.

Have eaten here a few times now, and always really happy with the food and the service – normally would give this 4 1/2 stars for value and food (have travelled extensively in India and lived for a while in London where good Indian food is easy to come by, so this is not a throwaway comment!). However… after not coming here for a few months and then eating there last week, we were shocked by what seemed to be a change to the bill policy – Satya now charges 5% extra for customers paying by credit card. (Have not come across any other restaurants who do this!) After asking about this, the manager stated that they decided to put the charge on credit cards after the GST rise, in lieu of putting up prices overall – but personally all three of us dining that evening agreed we’d rather a fair overall price rise of 2.5% than a nasty 5% surcharge on the bill for paying by card. So we will be trying other restaurants in future on principle – Satya will be reserved only for the ‘just-been-paid days’ when we can use cash…until the Satya management change this policy to something fairer (we hope). (Another note to Satya: normally we round up the bill and tip a little (usually 5%), but this time we didn’t.)

I have been a regular visitor to Satya in the past few months and the serviece is outstanding.
The menu is extensive and varied and they go to great lengths to tailor the meal to address individual needs.
The staff are friendly and the prompt service is outstanding.
Even when the restaurant has been full I have never had to wait more than 20 mins for my meal which is always delivered with a smile.
The prices are very reasonable and for these reasons Satya is my favourite restaurant in Auckland and I recommend the team to everyone looking for a good Indian meal, with great service, at an affordable price.

Had to remind the waiter to bring my side dish. Was served a plate that had stain on it!!
Menu & advertisement say “South Indian”…but they actually had the MINIMUM of choice on South Indian cuisine!!

Great food, very authentic. great prices!
The restaurant is busy and usually quite loud so not the kind of place you would go for romance.

I have to rate the food as awesome. There are some really interesting combinations to try, completely different from the average indian food dished out to westerners. This is different.
The only thing I don’t like is the restaurant. Its too small. you practically eat with someone’s elbow in your face!

Brilliant food, and good service.
Only trouble is the restaurant is small and very popular so its usually impossible to get a table if you haven’t booked.
