If you want good Thai takeaways at a reasonable price then Sawasdee Thai Restaurant in Johnsonville is the place. We use it regularly. We have also eaten in the restaurant. If you’re looking for flash surroundings and warm ambience there are probably other places you could find further afield. But if you just like Thai food and don’t want to pay too much then Sawasdee is definitely worth trying.
substandard food and service. Asked for no egg in food due to allergic reaction and takeaway food all arrived riddled with egg. Dangerous and clearly didn’t care about customer service. Other food was very average and wouldn’t recommend at all!!!
It’s cheap and that’s what you get. Food is ok, menu is not extensive, just a few dises to choose from. If you’re looking for a cheap place with average food then go here. If you want somewhere really nice, choose somewhere else.

i have only had take out from here before and its reasonably priced. but the place has a bad ant infestation you can see millions of ants crawling along the windows when you walk past during the day. so ive advoided it and havent gone back.

normally we go for a curry but decided to go for a change..glad we did.the food was very well priced and very tasty.the service was relaxed. we had two entrees, two mains and dessert..53 dollars..brilliant! this place is super relaxed, so much so we stayed well after dinner was eaten just chatting and no one was giving us the hurry up to get out.its not licenced thouh, so if you want a wine with your dinner, you will need to take a bottle. very homely and relaxed..will return again for sure.

This is a very happy restaurant and the food is super nummy! My husband and our two daughters ate dinner here on a weekday evening and we all left with smiles on our faces. The service was impeccable, the food was served promptly and we all loved our meals. The owner was so sweet to our girls, and even said she would make up a special batch of Thai custard with sticky rice (our favorite, and not on the menu) if we gave her a call sometime. We will be back again and again!

Food’s good standard Thai food. Fresh and tasty. Plenty of options. Prices are pretty standard for this type of food. Service is quick and friendly. Environment is pretty basic – think more suburban functional restaurant than fine dining, but if that’s what you’re after then this is a very good option.
Wellington has lots of restaurant options, and bad ones don’t last. This one is good enough to be around for the long haul. Sawasdee is easily good enough to justify return visits.
They also do takeout, and seem to be more popular for takeout than for eat-in food.
