I’ve had many visits to Schnappa Rock Tutukaka for breakfast, coffees and dinners and the setting, atmosphere & food just keeps me coming back !! Great relaxed casual dining with friendly staff working for a very personable owner and candles set on rustic table/furniture in a beach hut/kiwi bach style building with marina/seaside views just magic. My favourite would have to be the green lip mussels with the most mouth wateringly good garlic bread, YUM! Recently had hapuku which was outstanding, fresh & cooked to perfection. The crew in the kitchen know their stuff! Numerous breakfasts had here also, their full breakfast is great. And they make the best iced tea I’ve ever had!

I was expecting glorified pub food from this place and got so much more. Well presented, reasonably priced and delicious food. I cannot recommend the pork belly enough. If you are in Tutukaka, even for a short time, you must eat here. We went back the second night and it was just as good. Service, drinks and everything else was great too. Awesome spot.

On a rare visit to Northland we considered ourselves fortunate to have lunched here. The Squid was delicious and the raw fish was beautiful. A busy restaurant on a fabulous day and the staff were attentive, helpful and polite. The pricing was reasonable and we have no problem recommending others to try it. The decor is interesting to say the least.

I have tried most of the menu in Schnappa Rock and it has always been excellent!

There’s nothing I love more than chilling out at the bar with a Seafood Chowder and a glass of wine. The chowder is the best in Northland, absolutely breaming with prawns and mussells etc.

If the Pork Belly is on the menu then definitely try it. Beautifully crispy on top and the meat almost melts in your mouth.

The staff are very friendly and professional. They always make you feel welcome and provide the very best of service.

The restaurant itself has a very chilled out and relaxed atmosphere.

I would definitely recommend Schnappa Rock for an enjoyable dinning experience.

Whilst visiting Tutukaka just after New Year we decided to eat here.
Not great food. My husband had the chowder which is something that he likes to try all over the place. This one was very unusual. It tasted like condensed mushroom soup with prawns in.
I ordered chilli beans and ended up with bolognese (with salsa and a half kilo of sour cream – honestly, no-one needs that much sour cream!)
Once I pointed out that I had the wrong food they did remove it from the bill (I had eaten some of it as there was no check back and I was hungry!)

I looked at the evening menu and after the food I’d had at lunch time didn’t contemplate paying the evening prices for food that I assumed would be of the same standard.

Shame really as the staff were really quite nice!

Enjoyed our lunch choices here on our recent trip to Northland. Seafood chowder was tasty(almost as good as my chef husbands), Others really enjoyed their meals. Service and situation was excellent. Will return next visit!

Always great food and great service, when it’s on – it’s exceptional. Kid friendly too, we take our kids (2yrs and 5yrs) and the staff are always accommodating.

Can be a little cold in winter if you’re rocking up first thing in the morning looking for breakfast (given the outdoor/indoor flow of the place). As long as you don’t arrive in a T-Shirt you’ll be fine

Have found the staff pleasant and efficient on the many occasions we have been here.

We went here for a meal at Easter. Felt very happy with it so went again a couple of days later. We have been going here for about 10 years. The food has varied over the years – but over Easter, it was good and the staff helpful and friendly.

We went there for a special anniversary on the 3rd March very average food the kumara and cream cheese fritters cold and tough. Wine prices over the top for N.Z.Sauces on the chicken very bland. Had a nice young waitress who gave good service.
