I have always wanted to try Korean cuisine and this place was a surprise. Not knowing what to order, I selected the shall I say bluntly infallible Asian dish, the Fried Rice with pork. My partner ordered the pork omelette with rice. We tried each other’s dishes and both shared a particularly sweet/ honey taste. The portions were good, the service was good, and it was a good evening. There was no Gangnam Style to be heard, and that is all.

Great food with very generous servings and fast, efficient service. I’m also prompted to provide my thoughts after reading the other ignorant post talking about Korean Mafia etc… not helpful and, yes, Hwajangshil is toilet (or literally makeup room) in Korean but doesn’t non-perfect English just add to the experience???!!!
I typically have a think before selecting a Korean restaurant (as does my wife, who is Korean) but we always end up at Seoul House and don’t leave disappointed.

Went there for lunch today.
Had, beef hot plate, mandu, bim, and a kimchi tofu dish. They were all really good. Good value for money too.
Service was a bit crap. Had to get our own menus, sit ourselves down, and also get our own utensils. There was only one waitress and it was really busy. Probably busier than they expected it to be for a Monday lunch time.
Food was real good though, lots for your money. Would love to try dinner there and see if service is any better.

went there for dinner tonight.
i am glad to find that there is a decent korean restaurant in wellington. i had a dolsot bibimbap for my main, the vegetables used were fresh and the portion size was very generous the beef was seasoned well and the gochujang was particularly good (the only thing that wasnt to my preference was that the egg was served fryed, while i prefer raw egg in my bibimbap).
a standard selection of banchan was provided with the meal (unlike some places in the area that charge extra for them?!?), the banchan was quite nice and the kimchi was very much to my taste, quite sweet and not too bitter.
there was a selection of local wines available on the menu as well as a nice selection of soju. howevery what stood out for me was the bokbunjajaoo, a delicious dark raspberry wine, that i hadnt seen anywhere since i moved to wellington. i would highly reccomend sampling some if you have never had it before.
the prices were very reasonable (my main cost $13, i cant recall what the drinks cost.) and the service was very good. the wait staff were korean (but also very fluent in english). i didnt wait at all to be seated or have my order taken and the food was delivered promptly. i will definently be returning for another meal soon, i will be trying their bulgogi next.
i highly reccomend this place if you like korean. there are not many korean places in wellington and this one deserves our patronage.
kamsahamnida seoul house!

The hot and spicy squid is really good! Very economical too. You can basically make about four meals from it as a takeaway. Really like the side dishes too, esp. the seaweed stem. Mmmmm. The Korean pizza pancake thing is really yummy too.

Hey Guys
I just visited this bank and i think you guys should zone the place, security is tight but there’s big money for us if we get in… wait hold up, who is this? Who am I? This isn’t a restaurant review…
Sorry about that, I don’t know what happened there…
The restaurant Seoul House is mighty fine and the waiter who served us had a lot of soul – if you’ll excuse my pun there – he spoke in a deep Yorkshire accent and could have passed for an aging rockstar if it wasn’t for a very gay looking-handle bar moustache that sat perched on his top lip. But all I wanted to know was why he was wearing a Colonel Gaddafi mask.
In an effort to boost morale (and to shut us up), our waiter sent us all some fantastic mandu (korean dumpling). Happy days!
All in all the food was great and i the Hite Beer was fantastic.
