Great place with awesome welcoming staff. We had a voucher and booked in, and it was the best experience ever! The food was awesome, with bread, salami and olives as appetizer, Paella for the main and Churros for dessert. We loved it, it was a good amount of food, and the tea was delicious as well. Would highly recommend their staff, 2 young ladies who worked tirelessly to make us feel welcome and our tummies happy. Will go back for sure!

I visited recently on a quiet Saturday afternoon (having purchased an online voucher) and found the occasion most enjoyable. There was a set menu of classical Spanish food, which we found both tasty and perfectly adequate. The friendly Spanish owner/chef come out and chatted to us, discussing the challenges in creating authentic dishes to kiwi expectations.

Went to Serafin as live in the area and it was recommended to us. We had 4 different tapas and the home made sangria. Every thing was great. We sat in the court yard as it was summer and it was warm with a nice atmosphere. Great local place.
Serafin has a really nice indoor outdoor feel about it – right from the moment you arrive. Great selection of Spanish Tapas a comprehensive wine and beer list, superb ambience and helpful friendly staff made this a special place to visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed Serafin and would highly recommend it. It is great being able to have lots of different tapas dishes and also the Churros dipped in chocolate dessert followed by a great long black.

We too recently purchased a deal voucher. We do go out for Tapa’s alot and have experienced some wonderful places. However Serafin was a very big let down.
Good points, staff were polite and friendly and place itself was very nice.
The food was very little and we sure didnt get value for money. Servings very little, sauces terrible and we didnt get the 8 different dishes that the voucher promised. Infact very tapas place we have visited has had 3 of the items on the plate, allowing each of you to try the food, This was not the case with Serafin.
We wouldnt go back, Like previous reviews the food should be fabulous as that intices customers to go back.

We are very sorry that you did not like the set menu we have with the deal voucher. We have many other great items on the menu and it would be great if you would come back and give them a try. We appreciate your feedback and we have taken it on board. We hope that…

We are in agreement with the previous reviewer (Nicky M). We also used a Groupon voucher but found the food fairly average and the portions OK but not worthy of a supposedly $80 value. On some of the dishes, there were two different items which is not terribly good for two people to try the same thing. Like Nicky M we thought the sauces were pretty average e.g. the sauce on the potatos and one of the other dishes was like 1000 Island Dressing from a jar.

We went in with our deal vouchers, so we understand that they need to watch their food cost but we really did not have a good dining experience.
Firstly, the positives — The restaurant is beautifully designed, especially the plywood ceiling. The size is intimate if a bit too loud (not their fault). The dessert we had were really good — Especially the marinated bread. The service was courteous and informative.
However, when you go to a restaurant, the most important thing is the food — and unfortunately we did not enjoy our food at all. The calamari was 3 deep fried calamari rings stacked together with some mayonaise based dressing, the same dressing they served with an extremely boring potato bravas which was just some roasted potatoes. Croquettes were good but was the only enjoyable thing we ate, the smoked salmon was boring, the meatball uninspired.
It’s possible that the other items on the menu are very good. But when you run a promotion you should use it to impress your potential regulars. We were not impressed. I would perhaps come back for dessert but would not be back for a meal.

We went there last night for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. 20 of us there, in the booked room at the back.
1. Outstanding authentic Spanish food. Nothing like the typical kiwi interpretaciones sin sabor. Gorgeous choices, all full of flavour, complexity and con amor! The duck was perfect, the langoustines divine, and the Paella full of beautiful spice and attitude. 5 out of 5 for the food!
2. Perfect service. The two women that run the floor were gracious, fast, and knowledgeable about the food and wine pairing. YOU MUST TRY the Sin Palabras wine– expensive but well-worth it. IT will leave you Speechless (sin palabras) and it is the best white wine I have had in New Zealand, hands down. Gracias Espana for such a perfectly complex and cheerful wine!
3. Delightful owner. Serafin is a master at his craft, friendly, and obviously loves what he does. His food is so tasty, and reasonably priced, and the whole staff made it seem like a table of 20 loud family members, plus a restaurant full to the brim, was no big deal, we were warmly welcomed, beautifully fed, our noise and kids enjoyed by the staff, and farewelled with thanks and requests that we come back!
I would go there again and again if I could, but as I live in Wellington it’ll be a special treat when we’re in Auckland. Aucklanders, take advantage of what a gem this is, and give Serafin and the staff your gracias por la comida increíble!

A group of us went on a Tuesday night. The staff at Serafin were friendly and the place was busy. While we enjoyed our tapas there are better available in the area. Not sure if it is only on a Tuesday, but we had to leave at 10pm.
Easy parking across the road.

This new tapas restaurant close to Eden Park is in a beautiful purpose-built construction. Having walked past several times and meaning to try it out, a Herald article about the owner’s problems with getting a liquor licence (due to a couple in the neighbourhood who made a complaint about potential drunks) finally spurred us to go in. The seafood paella and desserts (we have tried all of them) are absolutely divine, and we have already returned several times!
