We had food at Sigdi on Friday, lucky we had booked. It was as usual busy and the food was fantastic. This is just to say a big “thank you” to the Sigdi team…. for making our anniversary very special.
We’ve been going to Sigdi since about the year 2000, and we’ve seen it pass through the hands of about four owners.
For a while we stopped going there around mid-2008, but at the end of 2008, we went back just to see if things had changed. And since then, we’ve been back almost every week–and sometimes twice a week.
I’m quite fussy about my food, and especially Indian food, as I can cook just as good Indian food at home (I’m originally from India, and love cooking). So I’ve eaten in dozens of Indian restaurants, and I’m not your average ‘butter chicken’ food taster.
I would rate the Sigdi experience as top class. The food is really good, and the service is good too. Of course, some nights it gets too busy, so I’d recommend you avoid the busier nights such as Thu, Fri and Sat, as there’s bound to be a crowd as it’s a popular restaurant.
Even on Mondays and Tuesdays when things seem to be slow in other restaurants, Sigdi is quite full. In fact we drive all the way from Milford to Devenport, probably passing at least 3-5 Indian restaurants on the way to have this food.
There’s only one downside to this restaurant in my opinion: I have to drive. I wish it were closer to Milford
But then again, maybe not, because otherwise I’d be there every day!

The food was excellent, we had the set menu for 2 – just perfect. Infact we over ate. The service was very good. I was pleasantly surprised with the selection of Indian beers. Highly recommend the 660 ml Kingfisher strong.

We were at Sigdi on Wednesday to celebrate a birthday, the food and service were faultless. Inspite of being busy we ( the 12 of us ) were well taken care off, and my Mike’s Prawn curry was yummy as usual. See you guys soon.

Best Indian food in town, try the summer specials – Murg Ananas and the Lamb kohlapuri. Highly recommended. We are hooked now, even though we live in Mairangi bay.

For years this has been the indian restaurant of choice for our family. Love the food, always a good meal and a fabulous local joint. It is always a real treat eating out at sigdi.

One of the few Indian restaurants that gets the combination right of making spicy, yet flavourful curries. Definitely gets my vote for best Indian on the North Shore.

Curry was disappointing, service not very efficient or friendly, prices too high. We will not be returning despite it being local.

I thought that Sigdi was great, the people were really polite and the food was brilliant. It is a local restaurant of mine and until now I have never ventured in, I am so glad that I did and I will DEFINITELY be eating there again!!!!

We had the best Indian meal on friday, as we had not made a reservation, we could not initially get a seat but Andy managed to find us a table(while we had drinks outside). The food was divine!! We have already made a booking for next saturday.

I am a regular at Sigdi,I love the food, so I don’t agree with the other two reviewers. The food is in-fact much better than before and it is good that Ranjit – who ever that has gone back to Poona or whatever…and by the way that is the best butter chicken in all of New Zealand. This is my local, so excuse the emotions – we love this place.

I agree with a previous reviewer since Ranjit went back to Poona the standard of the food has really gone downhill. Pleasant people but the butter chicken was not good.
