The only person who would give Simply Paris in Dixon street 5 stars has to be the owner or the chef. We went there on the weekend and ordered the house specialty Crepes. They were seriously bad. The cold, no taste, no presentation. The bacon arrived 10 minutes after we had finished breakfast. This place is a complete insult to the cooking industry. I have alot I’d like to say about this place and none of it good but I don’t want to set myself up for a bad day. The place was empty which is also an indicator of problems. Since my last visit I have asked others and anyone who has been there said they too would not go back. They do make a great walnut and fig bread though. Friendly waiters are one thing, delivering a decent product is another

Huh? Either the place tell apart since the previous reviewer’s visit almost a year ago, or she was incredibly lucky but we’ve just returned from our third and LAST attempt to enjoy brunch there vowing never to return.
It was so bad we stopped and told a local storeowner on our way home all about it and he said that they’d had the worst review he’d ever seen, yet I can only find a few good ones on dineout and MenuMania which is a little suspicous.
THIS review is utterly honest, utterly unbiased, and written about an hour after the final experience, and based on three visits months apart with identical results.
My partner placed our order for a tiny croissant that was sitting right next to her on the counter, two coffees and a toasted ficelle. The staff taking the order struggled with the enormity of this order, or perhaps the language barrier since like La Cloche, who also completely fail to delivery anything remotely resembling service, they seem to discriminate in favour of French staff (by contrast my Thai friend manages a Bordeaux branch that is ten times busier and phenomenally efficient).
After 15 mins or so we queried the croissant and she came back with a chocolate one. “I ordered plain” my partner said. “We’re out of plain”. Yes that’s right. They resold the one we paid for.
The coffees turned up, both had cinammon. Incredibly despite taking 15 minutes or so the first time, the replacement cup took only a couple of minutes. There’s three staf and virtually no customers so I don’t understand the delay but it got worse.
They’d keep sneaking peaks at the ficelle toaster and deem it ‘not ready’. Literally 20-25 minutes elapsed before they served it – how is it possible that the bread was still mushy?
Pleasant yet grossly incompetant disorganised staff – go there at your peril
