Our group of 8 ladies lunched at Soi Sat 10th July. The food selection was a great improvement, waiting staff were fantastic. Squid for Entree, several had the salmon dish, very tasty, followed by apple crumble.
Lovely meals. Everybody happy.
Arrived at noon, departed at 3pm.
Great views of a yacht race in Evans Bay.

Soi is set right on the water at Greta Point where floor to ceiling windows allows diners to appreciate a stunning view in all weather, although our table felt quite drafty. We started with garlic sour dough to share before I had a main of pan-roasted Asian spiced chicken. The chicken was tender, although I found the flavours to all mix into one combined taste. My partner’s teriyaki salmon was the same; well cooked, but with one predominant flavour. We were not too keen on our dessert, the 70% dark chocolate tart fondant – a tiny serving for $12 and most of the flavour came from the berry compote. Good service with short wait times. Two-for-one Tuesday makes for a good mid-week meal out.

Came across SOI by accident, what a great find. We popped in on a wet afternoon with 2 young children.

The staff were attentive not only to us but our children. They even organised colouring pencils and pictures for them.

As we enjoyed ourselves….what started out as a coffee stop rolled on to wine and a varitey of small dishes being ordered.

A great unexpected find, will return.

We took my elderly mother in law to lunch here. The ambiance was brilliant with delightful views over Evans Bay. The service was superb, very helpful, unobtrusive but always there when wanted with a lovely smile that lit up the room.A small but well put together menu. We tried the fish both the battered and the pan fried and the chicken salad. All three meals were beautifully presented and delicious with subtle flavours that lifted them above the ordinary. The wine list was good. My mother in law really enjoyed the cider. Well done chef!

The food at Soi is generally Asian fusion. It is really tasty and well presented without being pretentious. For the quality of the food, it’s also well-priced.

I find the decor a bit hotel-ish, not much character… but when you are sitting out over the water, maybe less distraction is better! It is relatively quiet place, create your own atmosphere and look at the view.

Every time I’ve been there I’ve found the service to be pretty good too.

This truly is a hidden gem. On a Saturday night I was surprised how quiet it was. I suppose because it is out of the central city but this added to our experience – Fantastic location with 180 degree sea views, attentive and professional service and superb food presented in a quiet no fuss way. I would highly recommend this place for a quality experience away from the noise and hub bub of more pretentious establishments around the harbour.

This was an almost, if not, perfect dining experience. The decor at Soi is exquisite. New, tasteful, modern, ultra clean, minimalist interior, perfect for a restaurant. There are views of unparalleled beauty to behold through unimpeded, large, clean windows. On new years eve, we, a family party of thirteen, (age ranges from 5 years to eighty three years) had a spacious dining setting in the centre of the restaurant. The service was outstanding, our meals were appreciated as more than pleasing for the entire twelve of us dining. Perfect presentation, delightful surroundings and a very well appointed table arrangement for maximum privacy and space. An excellent experience, and a great start to 2009. Probably perfect.

Soi is in a superiorly and totally different league to the other two extremely tired and grubby restaurants who also occupy waters edge positions, further round the bays. We are so pleased to have discovered this high quality gem on the eastern edge of the harbour.
