Actually I am from Sydney, Australia. We visited this fine establishment a few years ago with our Kiwi mates and I had the most memorable seared scallops ever as an entree-they need to be reintroduced at whatever cost!.A week ago i had the wondrous seafood chowder for lunch and we then booked for dinner a few days later. i had the venison pie, which was superb, a trifle sweet, maybe a few juniper berries to round off the red current jelly?
I may cook this pie at the NSW Wine & Food Society in 2012
i ordered the same wine as we had previously, The Jim Barry Cover Drive Cabernet, a great match.
The ambiance and service was great as was the Chef’s conversation with me. I will return!

We are from Australia and we had our wedding reception at the Stables Restaurant, Arrowtown on the 12th March 2011 and I could not praise the staff/service/food high enough. We had a wedding party of 27 and each and every one of our guests LOVED the food (the food was “WOW” and absolutely beautiful) and the service was fantastic. For a wedding reception we could not have asked for anything more. A must visit to Stables Restaurant if you are in Arrowtown.
