It was the 1st time I dined at steakout with my 2 boys. It was great! The waitress Dolly was so friendly, and she gave my boys free packets of chips and lollypops. The meals were great and affordable! Dolly asked us if we wanted any more fries and told us that if we wanted anymore fries there would be no charge! How excellent is that! Overall an excellent meal.

it’s always a pleasure to eat at Steak Out!
Finally a chef who knows how to cook a blue steak. Dolly is a wonderful hostess, and always takes the time to call us by name – though we arent really there regularly enough for that! (a couple of times a year)
A perfect evening. We’ll be back, again!

Looking somewhere to dine on Sunday evening with four boys is a mission especially when hubby is hungry for steak! We were taken to an extended room off the restaurant area and the heating wasn’t on so we waited in the bar area and had some drinks and watched a bit of telly until the manager called us in to sit at our table and the room temperature a bit warmer. Both me and hubby had the rump steak and garlic bread…this is soooo yum no one in palmy can cook it crunchy like this chef! the salads were full and delicious. Our boys had the burgers which they said were yum and tasty. We will definetely be back!
My partner and I were over from OZ for a holiday and wanted somewhere nice to have lunch and just stumbled on the Steak Out at Palmerston North. The food was excellent and the customer service that we receided was outstanding. We have never been treated to such fantastic service before. We therefore have been back again and will continue every chance we have. Keep up the FANTASTIC service. Regards Heather and Phil(Dr Phil).
WOW!!!! My husband and i went to Steak Out for our anniversary (as we have done for 3 years in a row) and will continue to go there for our anniversary for as long as possible.
Our waitress (as always) was Dolly, a fantastically wonderful person who never fails to make sure that everything is perfect. She is always so great, we absolutely love her!
Firstly the salad bar was full and very clean and the food was fantastic. We both went back for seconds. Our meals were cooked perfectly (again as always). We both got the mega rump and were blown away by the size. Our sides were brought on a seperate plate (as there was no room left on main plate) and because the baked potatoe were on the smaller side Dolly asked if i would like another one but i was very happy with it.
After we finished our main Dolly brought us a perfect slice of Lemon Cheesecake to share with a candle for our anniversary (on the house) this was a awesome end to a perfect night.
Like we always do we took about two thirds of our steaks home in a doggy bag for the babysitter and kids to enjoy.
We love the steak out and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a nice freindly atmosphere with top class food (hats off to the chef) and all for a cheap price. Our meals came in at under $70 for both.

OHHHHH so yummy. My partner ordered the 1kg steak and got through it all whilst the older man next to us didn’t haha. The steak was beautiful as well as the salads and side dishes. The waitress was as kind as can be and made us have a bit of a giggle it was great to see her using our names it makes you feel just a little special. Pricing GREAT and the food fills you up I’ve never been able to order desert i’ve been so full
This was the second time we had dined at Steak Out, the first time being a few years ago now. The first time we dined, I did what any red blooded male would do whilst sweating testosterone out through every pore, I challenged myself to a 1kg steak, at the behest of my wife waving a bet in my face, and almost got to the end of it too but found the last portion a bit too rare for my liking (despite that, I was somewhat thankful for the reprieve).
This time around, I had more sense and stuck to a steak that wasnt going to clog my arteries – as much.
The food was delicious, as it was the first time we dined there. There is a salad buffet where you can help yourself to everything from curried eggs, to pasta salad, to coleslaw, to a kumara salad, but to name a few. The steak was cooked just as I liked it and had a side of fries with a light coating of cajun spice.
We resisted the crumbed camembert entree – or any entree at all for that matter (having learned my lesson about over indulgence the first time), but watched another couple eat it and it looked absolutely devine.
One of the standing features about Steak Out is the staff, very friendly and very accommodating. Almost too friendly at times, and quick to serve you and take your order. Special mention has to be made of Dolly who is incredibly friendly and cant help but put a smile on your face – especially when she tells your wife what a beautiful smile she has, and how lucky a man I am (will probably hear about this for some time to come too!)
The setting is like a less commercial version of Lone Star – so it doesnt have all the fanfare (although it was virtually booked out the first time we dined there) but the food is as good. This place is highly recommended – would be interested to see how other testosterone expelling males go with the 1kg challenge
