Plenty of parking and seats in the morning sun.

The meals are a good size for breakfast and you do not feel ripped off when you get them served. They also have a low fat and GI option. We had three choices from the breakfast menu and none disappointed. The coffee hit the mark.

Service was friendly.

Worth a stop.

We had a really nice breakfast here. The coffee was good and the girls working were lovely and friendly.
The atmosphere was nice and relaxed.
The only thing bad would be the sausages were not very good quality. The kind of cheapo ones they use in fish and chip shops.

I eat at Steely Blue every Sunday and I have never been disappointed! The food is always great, service is great and the food is at your table within 10 minutes of ordering. My favorite cafe in Auckland!

This is the first time I have been to this cafe. I wasn’t expecting it to be so good, but it was!! The food was excellent, and the service was warm and friendly – the staff were always smiling and very helpful. I ordered the scallops and bacon from the Chef’s Specials menu, and it was the best one I’ve ever had. The mocha that I ordered was just right, and so I ordered another one. I recommend this cafe to anyone in search for a decent cafe in the Takanini/Papakura area.

Met some friends for breakfast this morning. I made the mistake of ordering the corn stack. Big mistake. Barely a teaspoon of corn per hard, over-cooked fritter was to be found. A tiny drizzle of aioli was completely inadequate for the dry dish that had been served to me. Some of the friends had fries with their food, and they appeared to have double-cooked to me, they were VERY crunchy, to the point of hurting my teeth when I bit into them. I honestly wondered if they had been recycled from the day before. Nobody bothered to come over at any point to ask how our meals were. I guess they’ve learned not to bother if they don’t want to hear the truth about the over-priced and under-seasoned muck on the plate. We won’t be returning.

This is by far my most favourite cafe, the staff greet me by my name and I can ring and order my coffee which I do most days! The savoury muffins are yum. The staff are always smiling and great with the children, keep up the great work.

This is the fourth time I have come to the cafe. I have just moved into the Papakura area recently and have found this is my best local cafe. The cabinet food looks fresh and mouth-watering. The meals are to die for!!! They are well-worth the price as the portions are very generous! The coffee is delicious and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Even on Mother’s Day, when I first went in, the cafe was full however, they managed to welcome and serve each customer in a friendly and efficient manner. I recommend this cafe to anyone who loves to have the freshly made food at a reasonable price with great service and coffee. Thanks for a great experience!

Been there for breakfast three times. The first time it was great actually (which made me return a second time). Unfortunately the second time I ordered eggs benedict. The eggs were the texture of hard-boiled due to being over-poached. I sent them back, asking for some properly cooked eggs. They came out “snotty”, but I couldn’t be bothered sending them back again, so I ate around the snotty bits. I saw another couple order bennies while we were there. They didn’t send back theirs, even though I could see the yolks were hard (this is AFTER I had complained).
The third (and last) time I went there I ordered the corn fritters. Would have been pushing it to find more than 5 bits of corn in them, and they were gluggy and horrible. Not making the same mistake four times.

Been here quite a few times over the last couple of years. Last time was for brunch on Mother’s Day this year and they were full! Food unusually took a little longer and probably not up to its normal standard but…they were full. Apologies given by the waitress about the delay. I note that steve has since eaten at a restaurant with only a B rating for food hygiene and it was the first thing he noticed??? Steely Blue now has an A rating and so it should be.

I went to Steely Blue a couple of days ago for a get together w/ some friends. We ordered the Calamari Salad, Livers w/ Bacon in Brandy Sauce and Fish and Chips. I had a Flat White and my friends had a Mocha and a Hot Chocolate. The coffee was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We ended up ordering seconds. This cafe is a great find and I would recommend this cafe to anyone wanting excellent food, great service and a wonderful atmosphere.

Have eaten there three times. The first time was lunch from the cabinet, it just tasted like the mass-produced stuff that every cafe in that area seems to sell. The second time was a work xmas do (booked out the cafe). The food was a bit plain and only had a selection of cold meats really. The desert was taken out from under us while we were still eating which we all found very rude as we did not even have a chance to get seconds of what we had already paid for.
The third time was ordered lunch. It was 45 minutes late.

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning.
I ordered the big breakfast (the one with EVERYTHING) I found it very expensive for what I received, there was a fancy sausage but it was horrible and the rest what you would expect for a big breakfast. The quality was not great for the premium price I paid and the service was also poor. I have not been back since

Had Corn Fritters for the second time (we all deserve a second chance) and they were doughy and missing the corn for the second time. Never again and I frequently do business over lunch in that area!

interesting to see they only got a B rating for food hygiene. Anyone who knows anything about food handling knows to NOT to eat in a place that only gets a B.
I find it rude that Jess accuses others of lying about their reveiws when she wasnt even there?? Jess you dont really know what goes on behingd the scenes of a resturant, maybe you should watch Gordon Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares to see the reality. If ther food hygeine rating is anything to go by (which it is, they tend to be very lenient) the mouldy bread story is probably true.

Steely Blue catered an all day conference for us – morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Delicious food including great gluten free items for those who required them. Delivered on time and attractively presented.

I too have been a loyal customer for over 5 years, and this cafe has always been fantastic! Their coffee is outstanding, the food is fresh, and the service is great. It’s true, there was never a BLAT on the menu! Also, they have indeed never advertised as having gluten free food. Stelly Blue is tops!

my mother in law had a champagne breakfast for her hens party and at 9.30am, with 10 quite drunk woman to deal with, the staff were fantastic.
The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The food was very good and arrived at the same time, which is a feat because the order was changed about three times.
It was very clean and trendy but not showy.
We had an excellent time

I’m a loyal customer to Steely Blue, and now O.R.C cafe for the last 6 years. My typical double shot capp/choc complete with 2 sugars is a highlight to my week, and the fact that all the front girl staff start preparing it as soon as I walk in the door, makes it all the more enjoyable. Needless to say, the home baking, great customer service, and exceptional food make for a great cafe experience, one of which I’m always quick to tell people about. As for grumbled customers 1 & 2 (*cough* Helen and Robyn), Blats are not on the menu, and *Gluton Free* advertising never existed, but what a good ploy to make your weak tale all the more dramatic.

When I last ate here I ordered a BLAT and when I got it the bread was mouldy. I only found this out after eating about 1/4 of the way through my meal. I took it up to the counter and they made me a fresh one but couldn’t eat it after that! I was never even offered a refund

This restaurant is advertised as having gluten free food. Because of this our Sth Auckland Coeliac support group decided to go there for morning tea last Saturday. Prior to this (approx Wednesday of the week prior) we rang and let the owner know there would be approx 8 – 12 of us there for morning tea, and were assured that there would be more than 1 slice available for us all to eat.
12 of us arrived Sat morning only to find 1 item of food available for us to eat.
The owner was spoken to at the time and could offer us nothing else.
This was very disappointing to say the least and as a result some of our members did not eat anything. The cafe is local for us but needless to say there will be at least 12 of us plus our families that will not be frequenting it again.
