The 2 stars is pretty much for the venue itself. The bowling is a lot of fun and the place has a cool design. But the food is VERY mediocre. I had a Meat-Lovers Pizza and the ingredients just didn’t compliment each other. The kransky sausage didn’t go with it at all. There was too much cheese and it was all very messy, and even worse, there were no plates or serviettes! Lucky it was just myself and another person sharing the pizza or it would’ve been incredibly messy.
Also had chicken nuggets and chips and the nuggets tasted suspiciously like fish, as though they had been deep-fried with a fish and chip meal or something.
The food is also pretty expensive. $20 for THAT pizza? I don’t think so. I’m just glad vouchers were used and I didn’t actually pay for it. Otherwise I would’ve been really annoyed.
My recommendation – eat elsewhere first (have Hells Pizza on Petone beach, its cheaper and much nicer), then take advantage of the great bowling facilities. I’ll visit Strike for entertainment again surely, but won’t ever eat there again.

Strikes an awesome place, and the chef, is an awesome guy/girl (changed since ive been there last) and all the staff are concerned in making every ones experiance the best, though it does get stressfull they try their hardest, the also cater to all tastes, though as cafe chick said, it can be slow on weekends getting the food out their, that is because the kitchen staff spend all their time perfecting every meal, and honestly when you have many people ordering meals at the same time it is hard to get them all out, and as for the kids, well honestly it only makes sense to be a family orientated business that caters to all ages, i know sometimes their exceptionally loud (i used to be a party host at strike and help around in lazer strike) but what do you expect from a bowling ally?
strike is really worth a viset, the prices are all resonable and foods great, take your kids its the perfect family place, and the staff are all willing to help just ask them, and when you go take a note and remember you are not the only peron in the whole center and to just enjoy the atmosphere

even though sometimes the service can be a little slow i would highly recommend the place if you are after a good time. cafe chick is just some loser who probably went out to try get some but was unsuccessful at strike so was not impressed. I’ve dined there many times and have taken the kids and was always great. Even got to talk to the head chef and thank him for the great meal myself.
Keep up the great work strike!!

takes ages to get served, food is average don’t recommend.
So Cafe Chick goes to a bowling alley to dine and cant stand the screaming kids? Go figure. My recommendation, don’t go to Strike for a quiet, pleasant and intimate dining experience.
We took advantage of an unlimited bowling special on and unfortunately for my work out regime I couldnt resist a Cajun Chicken pizza and the garlic & cheese toast.
The pizza was very nice with lots of chunky toppings. The garlic & cheese toast looked like ciabatta with garlic and cheese on top was beautiful – although my hips wont agree. The food came out quickly. Only gripe is – no plates! Which makes it very hard to eat cleanly with just napkins. If anyone comes across a piece of chicken in a 14lb bowling ball … MY BAD!
But you dont go to Strike for the food alone. If timing is an issue, it passes much quicker if you’re bowling while waiting and inbetween bites.

Well, what can i say about strike!!! the place is amazing! Upon walking through the large double doors i notice that the full commercial kitchen has a 5 star health and hygeine rating! somehting that most well known places dont even come close to, so I was already impressed!
The interior decor is very flash and spacious, utilizing a lot of area for the type of centre it is.
Now we went for a small group for a mid winter xmas function, I know a little late in the year but as most places we are very busy, so we were very glad just to get out and about for some good times!. We went there on a friday night and by 4pm it was already bustling with many Bowling lanes full some crowds around the huge lazer strike arena they have in there! Something I knew i would have to try!!
We approached the desk and welcomed by a young pretty girl who quickly found our booking and showed us where our lane was, and arranged our bowling shoes, Which were a very sexy black in colour. We had booked some food platters as well and were told that the kitchen would have them out in now time, After 20 mins of us getting settled, grabbing our drinks from the bar and starting to bowl, our food arrived! steaming hot and looking great! We had the BBQ meat platter and a cheese platter for the girls. the meat platter was vast and there was a great sauce that came with the mini riblets, i couldnt get enough if it!!!!
Anyway, we enjoyed our bowling with many great laughs and one of our office girls taking first place, we were given a print out of our scores and then led over to the lazer strike area, We were met with another young girl who took us inside the arena which started with a tutorial on how to use the guns and the rules. We went into the arena and had a great game, great sound effects and lighting, a really good workout as well chasing after my collegues!!
we had a few more drinks and felt like dessert after our time in lazer strike, I Chose the sticky date pudding the others chose a simple ice cream trio that they had. The sticky date pudding came out steaming with a very thick and gooey caramel sauce, It tasted just like my mother had made!! very enjoyable!! The others had 3 diff flavours of ice cream which we were told were from kapiti. a very nice vanilla bean, some kind of plum and a simple chocolate, all very enjoyable and a perfect way to finish the evening! We spent a total of 5 hours there and loved every minute of it!!
I think what some people forget about Strike, is that it is a very busy entertainment centre catering to almost every walk of life. From what my friends say who have also visited strike, they cater to kids parties for most of the morning and afternoon on Saturday and Sunday so its very busy then, but they as parents loved the fact that they could put there feet up and let the staff take over and look after 10 screaming excited kids for a couple of hours!! I can understand that “cafeechick” reviews restaurants around Wellington, but perhaps going there on a Saturday evening for a meal when there are kids parties on is probably not the best time to eat out. From what i saw, The strike chefs are very competant and skilled, from what we saw from our platters and desserts. But from the looks of there very large and extensive, snacks, pizza, kids, adult dining and dessert menu. they seem to have all bases covered in what i would assume to be a very cool place to work for them.
Myself and the rest of my work crew were very impressed at most aspects of Strike. Its again a huge place and has a lot of areas to cover, but they looked after us and we will certainly be back again, Along with anyone in to that we feel needs to see this awsome new place for fun in the Hutt!!!

Pretty bad all-round service. Average meals. Not too bad if you can block out all the screaming kids (even on a Saturday night) and try to get someone to actually serve you.

Did you eat at this restaurant? Have an opinion to share?

We reserved function space and requested function menu – no function space was reserved and refused to offer us the function menu.
Food took quite a while to arrive, nearly an hour (good thing we ordered “starters”)
If you order the fish and chips meal, the only difference is the salad, which is somehow unexplicably $8 more than the fish and chips “snack.”
Steaks went unmarinated, no spice or flavor. Double charged for drinks.
Sorting out the bill took too long with hidden charges for sauce that were listed on the menu.
Those who bought 1daydeal coupons got shortchanged on drinks, and were double charged on the “tab” even though it was “free.”
For the hassle of arguing bills, drinks, hidden purchases and “complementary” items, with the manager, then regional General Manager – I highly suggest LANES in Wellington CBD.
