We are Newmarket’s premiere wine and cocktail lounge offering an extensive wine selection of over 70 labels, with 50 by the glass. All of our wines are served in Spiegelau crystal stemware and are guaranteed fresh by an Argon preservation system.

Come find us on York Street between Khyber Pass Road and Kent. Parking is plentiful on the street level or use the easily accessible Car Park right on the corner at Khyber Pass Road.
Sugar Bar is open Tuesday thru Friday from 4pm till late but is also available for Private Functions Saturday nights or by request the rest of the week.
Our aim is for the wine and food program at Sugar to be fun and casual, not stuffy or pretentious.

Sugar Bar is small enough to be intimate, big enough to have live music and perfectly sized to enjoy the warmth inside or the night sky outside.
Service is fantastic, the barmen know their stuff, and are happy to talk you through the wine or cocktail list.
The pizzas are fantastic, everyone is friendly, it’s amazing who you end up talking to and always come away feeling like a valued customer.
I too want to keep this my little secret, but Sugar Bar deserves the accolades and publicity. Looking forward to my next visit!
I started coming here a while back and I’ve been slack at writing a review mainly because when you love a place you loathe it becoming TOO popular.
For those of you out there who are tired of the “pumpy” music, the less than average service and bartenders who have no idea how to make a cocktail then this is the place for you.
Good times, good drinks, good people and as I go overseas I’m going to miss this place SOOO much (plus they are very good at calling dial a driver for you and making sure you’re ok as I said. Cheers!!!)
I’m leaving – come check this place out – trust me you’ll never want to go anywhere else in Newmarket.

If you are already drunk and happy- may be good.
Nice atmosphere (live music) but they obviously did not remember about my booking(after the email, phone call and voice message) and had to pull “table” away from other guest to organise some sitting for us.Also menu is nothing like what is on the website. Floor & toilet was shockingly messy. Toilet did not have hand dryer or paper towels.
It was my Birthday and I wish I have chosen different place.

Tucked away on one of the back streets near Teed St it was exactly what the
doctor ordered. Excellent wine and bubbles selection and after having a
couple, I then ordered a cheese platter. Wow! A large plate of fantastic
cheeses and meats with fresh sourdough beard. More than enough for my friend
and I. The staff were exceptional. Very knowledgeable and helpful and we
never had to get our of our seats to order more wine. Even the water was
continuously topped up. When we went to pay, they came to us and did it with
a wireless eftpos unit. This is a very smart and classy place. It reminds me
of some of the places you find in New York. I have been back numerous times
now and each time it is superb. Nothing beats sitting by the small fireplace
and listening to live jazz drinking excellent syrah!!! I 100% recommend this
place.
