Swashbucklers is an exciting place to wine and dine, located on the edge of the shores of the magnificent City of Sails, Westhaven Marina. Join us for lunch or dinner in the main Swashbucklers Restaurant or grab a cold ale in the Boatshed Bar.
The food is excellent, seafood is of course our speciality, but our Carribean Chicken and Blackbeards Pepper Steak are just as popular! The best seafood restaurant in Auckland but able to cater to all tastes, Swashbucklers is a ‘destination’ dining experience. Check out our menu for more details.

Wow guys well done, a last minute booking on a Saturday evening was appreciated but the Tuna Steak was totally to die for. Rare & melting like butter, perfect!! 3 well sized pieces of tuna were were more than my starving belly could deal with, regrettably as it was so good! The ordered side salad had plenty of olives & feta, yum!
Your kids menu was a welcome relief from the usual boring nuggets & hotdogs, & the kids tortilla wrap was a generous portion that would be plenty for an adult meal.
Have been coming back to you over many years & will continue to do so!

This is about a 3.5 stars,
Based on one other previous experience, i found the the Mussel in white wine sauce stunning, while my cajun Tuna Steak and avocado salsa absolutely delicious. On this occasion we did get overcharged with an extra set “Garlic Bread”

My experience last night was not as pleasant, some dishes were good. Some mediocre.

Got the Seafood Platter, everything was steamed/boiled in coconut , it was enjoyed, the only thing was, Prawns was not as fresh to serve the Restaurant’s Repetoire. fish was fresh.

Got the Scampi, the size of these were smaller than the Prawns on the menu? Not worth it, flavor wise : its VERY HARD to go wrong with garlic butter.

Oysters: Delicious ! Fresh .

Mussels : Average. Moderate quality.

Got the Tuna Steak (medium rare was requested): Steak was cut into two and one piece verged on well done, while the other was medium rare. Came in a much spicier Thai sweet chili sauce than my previous encounter, but with less Avocado Salsa. did not enjoyed this meal at all. Tuna was fresh though.

Sides : Salad( Cereal bowl size) Garlic Bread (dry and bland)

So while the restaurant had excellent ambiance, and lovely staff, there are also inconsistency on the same dish. Most of the dishes rely too heavily on shelf-sauce like mayonnaise and sweet chili sauce, Not much ‘creative’ thought went into the dishes, though not to say all of them are bad. Expect long waiting times between your entree and mains even with no other customers are there.

Came here last night with friends for a birthday celebration drove past a few times so thought we’d check it out. To start off with was so hard to get service as waitresses we’re too busy conversating with each other.literally had to wave staff down to get an entree order taken we got oysters and seafood chowder the oysters were a good size but for what we were charged weren’t fresh the chowder was like a thin bland broth it was the worst I’ve ever had. Our mains arrived we had Akarua salmon which was over done the salsa was manky with avocado that was off and brown, the spaghetti marinara tasted like something out off a budget spaghetti can from the supermarket that was after it had been salt and peppered 3 times! The seafood platter was mainly filled with mussels the cheapest seafood you can get with shrimps out of a pack pretty much a tasteless plate.throughout the mains no meal checks were done while waitresses were still talking to one another.came time to pay my friend asked to paid for one of the entrees waitress misheard and thought she was ordering again and said kitchen had closed and walked away, when asked to speak to the manager the waitress said she had left.for an upmarket restaurant swashbucklers is a overly expensive restaurant with low quality of food and poor service I will not be returning I suggest you think twice before dining here.

Very impressed with staff service and quality food, the beef fillet bernaise was to die for and the seafood platter for two was cooked to excellence.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first time dining experience & would highly recommend.

Big serves for the famished.

Five of us dined at this restaurant last night. We found it very relaxing waitress was polite and had a sense of humour. We ordered the seafood platter for 4 we were going to get it for 5 people but waitress suggested that it would be enough for 5..and she was right it was divine. We have tried many places in Auckland for seafood platters and this place by far rates the best size and variety.
Excellent parking and location.
Definitely recommend this place, it’s awesome.

All though we arrive about 30 mins early we were offered the choice of the bar or our table immediately Food was served nice and hot and well presented. Generous portions each course with the wait between meals that was timed nicely.
Excellent service from staff and the nice atmosphere in the restaurant.
All in all a good night out and would go back again.

Fun atmosphere, good food, generous portions and great service. Overall good value for money. Not a romantic, quiet place to eat but had an enjoyable vibe. My calamari was perfect.

On the positive staff were polite and generally attentive.
Food was a disappointment. Panfried snapper was o.k. Breaded scallops arrived dried out and hard with very little flavour (similar to what you would expect from a mediocre fish and chip shop) whitebait fritter was more scrambled egg than anything else – lucky if there was a teaspoon of whitebait between the 3 fritters. Chips were mediocre. Lucky we knew meals did not come with salad or veges because staff did not inform us of this.
Sad to see a great seafood restaurant going downhill fast.

I went to this restaurant 2 nights after eating at the engine room , the steaks were so much better here and the chips to , the atmosphere was better , I have eaten at some of the most expensive and most exclusive in the world and was very pleasantly surprised. And to top it of it was 1/2 the price. I would not hesitate to drive over the bridge to have an outstanding meal here than walk 2mins to the engine room .

Went to lunch on a Sunday with a group of approx 14. Not impressed with service. We had four 4 hungry children, it took over an hour long wait despite asking for the kids meals to come out first. The waitress did not inform us about the length of wait or ask whether we would like anything else while we are waiting. It took another 20 minutes for the rest of the meals to come out. On the positive, the platters were good although mussels were a little overcooked. Would not return in a hurry.

Have eaten here for the last time.
Food is pretty average, no value for money.

Seeing staff drunk, presumably on the off their days, along side the patrons not a good look.

We used to rave over the food at Swashbucklers and were taken there for our anniversary, much to our disappointment the chefs do not know what seasoning is. Food was so tasteless even with large amounts of salt and pepper, the fishermans basket was covered in a coconut flavour sauce – which is not stated on the menu. The scallop mornay was little balls of tasteless meat and at $31 you would expect better. We also emailed the manager to voice our opinion and received no reply whatsoever.I think most of the patrons are so drunk they don’t realise what horrible food they are eating

Awesome, huge meals.
Tip is to get the kiddies meal size of fish & chips, if you’re not a big eater!

It’s quite cool being able to smell the salt in the air & hear the creak of ropes against the wharf while you’re dining out on fish.
