17 Reviews for SweetPea
I’m really surprised at some of the negative comments, because I’ve had nothing but great service – over the phone and in person from them. The food is fantastic, the high tea well balanced, and it’s nice to have a break from the Dilmah tea used at the Museum Hotel and the James Cook.
The array of tea options (and the hot chocolates) is comprehensive, and the food options offer a lovely balance. The cupcakes are very rich, but fresh – I enjoy them more than the Tempt ones at Smith the Grocer’s (and cheaper too).
We enjoyed the atmosphere, and the service, and they will keep my patronage for a long time to come.

I was nervous after reading negative feedback as I wanted it all to be perfect and I’m big on customer service, I had one lady who seemed very grumpy and too busy for accommodating on booking but when I called back the new lady was very happy and easy to talk to an they fitted us in.
The service was great on the day and very accommodating.
Best cupcakes an peppermint hot chocolate I have ever had! I will be back with more friends this weekend.
One of the ladies may come across rude and short on the phone but maybe just busy because they were all great.
Staff were a bit rude, unfriendly and didn’t smile. No consistency; one staff member was in appropriately-themed high tea clothing, another was in different clothes. food was lacking in quantity for the price. Quality of food was average. No menus printed to look at food options.
Not child-friendly. Some staff bit too assertive.

Hope this shop stays for a very long time
I shall write up on the passionate relationship I have had with this adorable minx, Sweet Pea.
I first meet Sweet Pea in January this year. A belated Christmas present from my sister, this place had been thoroughly researched as the most polite, elegant, and cosy of spots for a traditional high tea, suitable for my grandmother, mother, and my sister and me.
From the moment I saw the interior, I knew I would return.
The establishment has no qualms with cliche – with tea related quotes – from songs, comedians, feminists, decorate the place in a variety of different ways, and are a good laugh and way to spend the time inhaling tea and baking.
And I KNOW a good high tea. I had been to many other places before, and this has the perfect balance – a long tea menu, personal tea pots, food to affectionately fill the belly, lovely staff, homely cosy furniture, and all at a perfectly affordable price.
I have since taken my maternal family again, as well as many many groups of friends. My best friends and I immediately vowed to create a monthly pilgrimage, and have done so for the past four months. I have also taken individual friends – to catch up, to cheer up, and to celebrate – all with different food needs that were accommodated without any fuss at all.
Also, every day I have gone there, I have tried a different tea, and there is a different food menu for the different days of the week, with the stunning 50s attire Friday. And you cannot help but find the fun and joy infectious.
They truly reward their regular customers – greeting you by name, remembering friends you have brought their before, and even sneakily offering tasters of treats you have interested in.
I could never recommend this place enough. It is a place I use to treat myself, and a place of comfort. I have never felt so welcome to a place before, and I always take things home with me – a smile, a container of tea, Moreand a cupcake.
To top it all off we got to choose a really lovely cupcake to take home, and we went on a Friday so the waitresses were dressed up in 50s attire.
I cannot recommend highly enough and will be returning. I do not normally write restaurant reviews but I thought Sweet Pea warranted one.
