Five of us went for drinks and dinner Tuesday night. First bad sign the menu was covered in a sticky substance. We ordered drinks but they did not have the bubbly which was on the menu and offered another which was on special. This was nice but they tried to charge full price on leaving. We ordered breads with a feta and olive dip – they delivered hummus. We ordered 3 fish dishes one of which was to be crumbed. All were pan fried and terrible. Tasted old and rubbery and smelt. Complained to the waiter who said they would mention it to the chef. They never came back to the table with any comment from the chef. With all the nice eating places in Wellington, you would think this place would try harder. We wont be going back again.

Well had a long day so thought I would treat myself to dinner in town.
Had walked past the Tap Haus before and thought it was worth visiting one day.
Well in short it is a expensive(for the service) restaurant with poor service and poor food quality
The Web menu is not up to date. I ordered a Pasta with Cherry Tomatoe and shrimp/prawn
After waiting 45 minutes and seeing others dishes arrive I ask the Waitress behind the counter about my meal. She went out the back and returned with the docket printer did not print out my order, it would be 5 minutes longer and did i want to wait or have a refund.
I chose to wait, for that I was offered a free beer, well that was accepted gratefully.
The main eventually arrived, I would say that the seafood was obviously frozen you could see the freezer burn on some of it, it was rubbery and discoloured from being overcooked maybe stewing for a while, if Cherry Tomatoes were supposed to be slow cooked in the oven they wern’t!
I would never recomend eating at this restaurant

Arrived with my partner on Sunday evening for a meal (21st August 2011) and the bar/restauraunt is styled very nicely. The level of service however left something to be desired.
The place had only a few customers and wasn’t busy at all. We entered and were not approaced (or even noticed) by the staff. Figuring their waiting staff were possibly busy, we approaced the bar and asked the girl who was putting some glasses away whether we should find a table or not. She seemed a bit surprised at this and told us to sit anywhere and she’d be over in a few moments to take our order.
We sat down and waited about fifteen minutes, but nobody came over to take our order or even greet us. During this time, a man cleared a table across from us, and, despite our table being clear and our glasses empty, didn’t think to ask if we’d ordered or not.
We walked out and went to The Grand down Courtenay Place and received some excellent service and a very nice stone grill steak.
Very poor service, Tap Haus.
