had a lovely meal here on 26th January 2012 – i ordered the fish finger sandwich which was lovely fresh pieces of fish in a crispy batter served on fresh sour dough bread with lettuce and a lime mayo. My daughter had the salt and pepper squid which was beautifully cooked and presented. we also shared a jug of a pimms cocktail which we both thoroughly enjoyed. we had chosen Taste Vin for lunch after sampling their Vietnamese chicken salad at Toast Martinborough last year a fantastic clean and crisp tasting dish.

We recently dined at Taste Vin as part of a group with a set menu and a selection of starters and mains. While the soup entree was tasty, it was served cold but the major disappointment was the lamb main which was of an extremely poor standard. There was more fat than meat and what meat there was, was minuscule and really only one mouthful. For a business that relies heavily on visitors, their response to our complaint regarding the meal was unacceptable and nonchalant. We would not recommend dining at Taste Vin when there are so many other wonderful eating places in the area.

There are some fantastic restaurants/cafes in Martinborough. This isn’t one of them. You pay up front when you order, probably to ensure you do pay. For $18, you would expect a meal. The only vegetarian option was little more than an appetizer, and no attempt was made to bulk it up with bread or anything when I complained. The Thai salad was a mish mash of tastes, the fish sandwich drenched in mayo to cover the dryness of the fish. If you just want a glass of wine, the setting is great, if you want food too, don’t bother.
