Went for a group booking for over 30 people and were dismayed that we were allocated to the rear of the building which had no ambuience, terrible outlook, and inferior atmosphere to what was normally experienced by walk ins.Waiter advises before ordering that they can only serve/cook for 8 persons of our group at a time!hello….they knew the numbers expected, hate to go there when they are busy then.Items on menu could do with some descriptions so you would have some idea of what one was going to receive. But consist presentation was also lacking as identical ordered items would turn up but looking very different and appealing. After spending $45 dollars on a lunch that wouldn’t have satisfied my two year old in volume,as it was raining outdoors we retreated briefly to our eating table area to find the chefs enjoying smoko at our tables where we were previously eating.Smoko being the puffing variety!!Yuk!.Sorry but if you want new and repeat cliential you will have to pick your game up somewhat.

When my business colleague said we were going to lunch at a new restaurant established in an old winery on Pakowhai Road in Hastings, by the renowned Kent Baddeley of Petite Lynon, this Wellingtonian was intrigued and excited.

The charming inside and outside Mediterranean style venue was crowded with happy customers. The open kitchen also seemed to be packed with chefs and waiting staff – choreographed by a resplendent Kent.

Each of our three mains was both a visual and taste fiesta. Hurray, what a stunner! And only $17 each. I absolutely recommend this inspiring lunch venue.

A great lunch! Lovely spot. It was raining so unable to sit outside but the patio looked very inviting for a sunny day. We did find the table for four a little crowded by the time we had water, wine, water bottle, wine bottle, bread board etc. on it. The breads were good; the salad I had as a first course whilst the men had oysters (excellent) was really nicely done, an attractive arrangement and very tasty. The steak I had was enormous. I had to have help with that, but the little squash in its jacket and the potato balls on the side were delicious. I was told the Wagyu won tons were very acceptable and the blue cod superb. It is really great to see such wonderful meals at reasonable prices. The cheeseboard was much more plentiful with oatcakes etc. at a lesser price than other restaurants in the area. All the best to Kent with this new venture – he’s on the right track!

Just back from a wonderful lunch. Tossed up about writing this review, cos don’t want it to get so popular I miss out next time! We were lucky enough to get a last minute booking on a weekend as it is. But the place is so good it deserves a few more reviews.
Ten Twenty Four has a laid back/easy going atmosphere (including a shady outdoor dining area – great on a nice summer’s day) combined with fabulous, creative meals, a great local wine list and friendly professional service, all at very reasonable prices. What more could anyone want? (Apart from opening for dinner – but I love the idea that you can organise your own function there at nights if you have enough people). Will definitely be back – would be back next week if I didn’t live 300kms away….

ten twentyfour part two – AMAZING
My darling and I tried to get into the restaurant on Friday for our wedding anniversary and had to wait until today for a booking! Glad to know there is high demand for the place!
Sushi ninja plate – slice baby paua with a soy jelly and a pickle, succulent tempura prawn, smoked eel with noodles and sushi rice, nori, striped beetroot and mange tout salad, swordfish sashimi with fresh pickled ginger and radish, sweet poached cloudy bay clams – so delicious I ordered a dozen clams as my dessert.
Hubby had the breads (fresh and housemade foccacia and ciabatta with herb butter, or balsamic and olive oil) and the lamb koftas with rice balls and tzatziki with a soft tortilla. He also had the deconstructed white choc rocky road with fresh blueberries, homemade turkish delight, dark choc tuille and baby marshmallows – his new fave dessert with a glass of muscats@dawn from Millton vineyard
We decided to be real piglets and had the cheeseboard – very generous helpings and the oatcakes and sweet orange tortillas along with the dried fruit and quince paste was amazing (had to doggy bag it!)
Lovely de la terre wines (pinot gris 2009 and viognier 2010). We also tried the moana park port and had two short blacks to bring us back to the reality of going home to children! thanks to the team – v good service, attentive, and fast. thanks to the team – we will be back soon – superb and extremely reasonably priced.

We went to the other day and had an awesome lunch. We started with a willy wonka inspired sushi ninja plate with pink and white striped beetroot, a wonderful dashi? broth with noodles, orange roughy? and a generous helping of salmon caviar and some vegetarian sushi rolls – very pretty and tasty. up next was a mushroom dish that was like a spicy mushroom taco with delicious lentils and a side of quinoa and candied walnut with a stripe (you know the arty chefy plate thing!) of liquorice pm the plate – yummy. finally there was a the hare and chorizo stew served on a beetroot dish – yummy, out came jacket baked potatoes with lashings of butter, the best cob of corn I have had this year with lime and paprika, and a delish fresh cos and micro green salad to share with pink peppercorns yum again. Most of the dishes are around $15 very VERY reasonable – complimentary salad and taties a wonderful touch, the by the glass wine list, (and by the bottle one) celebrates Hawkes bay/east coast wine. as an after..hubby could not resist dessert – a prune and Armagnac hand churned ice cream with a pavlova stuffed with a custard, a mini doughnut, chantilly cream with a cherry sauce, cherries and a sugar basket – he said it was the best non choc dessert he has ever had! Looking forward to cooking classes with Kent and have about 6 people keyed up already
