Went to Thai chefs when we were holidaying in Mangonui. The locals raved about it so we decided to check it out on our last night. The food I must say was really great but the service was lacking. Our waiter was an older lady and she seemed very scared to come take our order or speak to us, don’t know if being dark skinned had anything to do with it. She took our order and didn’t come back and check on us, while every other table was getting regular checks and their water kept getting topped up. Felt abit awkward in this place but at least the food made up for it.

We visited the restaurant on Good Friday. The service was good and the meals extraordinary in taste and presentation. There is a catch, unfortunately: On public holidays, there is a surcharge of 15%. An absolute disgrace! We definitely will think twice before visting it a second time.

Visited this restaurant a few days ago with friends. Highly recommend this Thaii. The food was of good quality and served promptly despite a full restaurant. I recommend you book a table.
Service was excellent. Our waiter was there but not in your face. Only two sav blanc to choose from, but enjoyed the one we chose served at perfect temp.
We’ll be back.

This restaurant is amazing – the service is great, the view is magical, and the food is just delicious. We have dined here on numerous occasions and had takeaways. If you are in Northland this is a must try, would recommend to anyone. Keep up the great work. Best to make a reservation as we have had to get takeaways before as no tables left.

Mangonui not only has a world famous fish and chip shop, it now has an amazing Thai restaurant!

Having turned up as a group of four without a booking on a busy night – the manager could not have been more accommodating! The staff quickly set up a table for us outside (it was a beautiful evening) and served a glass of wine while we waited. The friendly waitress recommended a number of dishes based on our preferences and they were spot on. The bartenders recommendations on wine matches to the food were excellent. We are a bunch of foodies and this place was great value for money and so unexpected in the far north- and better than many of the thai restaurants we have been to around NZ.

Good food! The heat can be inconsistent but flavour always good! Service is low key (but can be patchy when full of impatient city folk on holiday). Not ideal for bigger groups as it not a huge venue and can be noisy. Love it when the holiday crowds have gone!

Fabulous, fabulous food which is equal if not better than any we have tasted on our travels. You are always so friendly and welcoming no matter how many people we dine with and of course we love your takeaway service … just as yummy and fresh as dining in, thank-you!

Very nice food, among the nicest Thai I have had in a long time. Considering how busy it was Sunday night, very quick service, too. To be recommended!

Highly recommended restaurant up with the best I have ever been to. Food was superb and service excellent from the young lady that served us. Locals recommended the place and we recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

on a neg- note restaurant is a bit noisy. i think due to the concrete floor . could do with cork or carpet on the flour.

I have been here 3 or 4 times and now our extended family and friends are all enjoying it. Love the setting and the food – it’s great to have somewhere to dine that is quite different to what we already have. Our young son is in a wheelchair and the staff have always accommodated us and made him very welcome.

Most of my friends live off this takeaway & get it at least once a week. Evey time Ive been there the food and service has been great. We love the Tai Resturant!

Been there with few mates. Food was lovely, service-not so much. We have found the waitress rather rude with a bit of attitude.
