We ended up throwing the food out. Avoid this place like salmonella !

The waitresses were nice and obliging but having the time difference between meal number one and meal number three at over 30 minutes is really unacceptable. What is the point in going to a restaurant to eat with others when they end up watching you eat while they wait for there meals.
When arriving to pay the manager “ssshhh”ed us very loudly then demanded the incorrect money for meals , all without any apologies for the service
The meals were good but the service really needs to be improved if they want to keep seeing returning customers there.

It was ALL so yummy! And for the price, you get a HUGE plate of pad Thai! Enough to share, which we did. Ive had it before, from another restaurant, and did not like it at all. But this one was so yummy! If my partner had liked chili, I would have ordered it spicy, personally.
The downside is the room is so small, everyone was talking louder and louder, which was annoying. And they didn’t seem to have any AirCon or any windows open, so I got hotter as the night wore on.
All and all, we were satisfied with our meal and the attention from staff.

I ate with a larger group (10ppl) and can truly say that I didn’t enjoy a single thing in the restaurant.
Normally I am very good about finding the “silver lining”
but just can’t at Thai Orchid.
When I first arrived I was told to go upstairs by what looked like the chef, and was then helped by friends to get my own water and wine glass off a shelf.
We had a laugh that the serviettes on the table were actually a kitchen paper towel folded in half, and that they had turned the tv on for us – to a Disney channel musical!
About 30mins in we were given menus, a sheet of paper and a pen. We were told to write our name and the number of what we would like to order.
When our food came it was the typical one at a time customary at Thai restaurants, but one thing we noticed was that the noodles were not very good, the chicken tasted like it had been microwave burnt, and the “special sauce” was a store bought sweet chili thai sauce.
My crispy prawns were soaked in the sauce and very soggy.
The plates were then cleared away and the mobile eftpos brought out, without any communication.
We were then looked at, stood beside and finally had the table completely cleared while we were still talking and trying to finish our drinks.
The message “time to leave” was clear.
The food, atmosphere and service were all just horrid and the 10 of us will not be back.
Would not recommend – there’s many other better restaurants on the street.

The food was tasty but overcooked rice and undercooked veg, pasta instead of noodles (overcooked and a school dinner lady presentation made our minds up not to pay a return visit.
Main and starter for 2 with one drink each $80 Dec 2011

I think they need to focus on the brothel business upstairs, rather than cooking food. Check out the dodgy characters hanging out in reception… hmmm I would give it a miss! Try At Tonys japanese just down the road!
AND….attitude of one staff member was very rude!! The food for the amount of people was not enough..too many carrots/cabbage and onions. Not any vegetarian selection, hardly any meat in the dishes and we had to ask for rice, which was cold. The dessert was one or should I say half a scoop of store bought ice-cream.For a banquet absolutely appalling considering the price of $35 a head.Would not and will advise people to avoid this place.

The prices were almost reasonable but spoilt by the old ‘trick’ of charging extra for the rice which accompanies most dishes.
Don’t buy wine by the glass because you will feel ripped off by the very very small amount in the glass.
The green chicken curry was almost ok, but spoilt by being too thin and with very little actual chicken.
I will never go there again.

But the food was of really poor quality. The spring rolls were burnt and the spare ribs were dry and tough, so much so that they were not even eaten. They also failed to deliver two of our appetizers which arrived about forty minutes after the original delivery.
Also the prawn dish had only eight prawns in it. We spent over $100 on our order and it was so not worth it. All very bland and cooked poorly. Would never order from there again or recommend to anyone.

The chicken in the main meal was not stir fried but deep fried and dry.
The rice was over cooked and mushy. Worse, even though only one of us ordered rice we were charged for 2 serves at $2 each. When most restaurants provide the rice for free this price was cheeky especially when the meals were priced above average for Thai food.
We won’t be going back.
