They have the worst attitude towards their customers that I have ever seen in my life!
0/5 for customer service!
All we wanted was to have our left over food packed to take home and the man in the kitchen would not pack rice that was already paid for to go with the food. He complained about having to put rice in a separate container! To be honest what is a couple of cents worth of takeaway containers if it means making your customer happy? If your customer is happy they will come back tell their friends and spend much more money the next time they come. This man was so adamant that he would not give us rice and a container that when he finally decided to give it to us he said he hoped to never see us again! We never will come again! It makes me so angry to think a business owner would tell you to never come back. How do you expect to get more customers or build a good reputation as a place people want to go to?
We left angry and extremely disappointed. Rice that was paid for to be taken home in a container is not an unreasonable request. The owners should consider how they treat their customers and learn what battles to fight as rice and a container is a small investment in potential word of mouth advertising as well as loyal customers coming back.
Price 3/5.
The food was over priced already and we had to pay extra to have rice with a meal that would obviously need rice. Why not add the price to the main and include the rice?
You probably get one small bowl worth of food that any hungry man would need at least 3 or more meals to get full. The price was about $23 for a small portion.
2/5 food
My pad Thai had Toma toe sauce. That’s all I have to say. It was Thai spaghetti. Weird and only ate it because I was starving.

I’ve travelled around Thailand and been to many Thai restaurants in Auckland, and I’ve found Thai people to be some of the most friendly & hospitable people I have met. This restaurant and it’s owners bring disgrace to Thailand. Tonight I had the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant in my life. I didn’t mind so much their over-priced menu, where despite the high prices, you still have to pay extra for the rice. But when I asked if I could have some rice to take away with half my left over curry (as I didn’t have much rice at all with my meal) and was refused unless I paid even more, I made it clear that I found it unfair that they would’ve happily served me more rice at the table for no charge, but wouldn’t give me any to take away. They finally agreed to give me rice to take away, but proceeded to argue with me over a petty container for the rice, and the owner finally said he would do it this one time, but he never wanted to see me in his restaurant again! I was shocked and appalled that he would say this to a customer – over rice! My 6 friends and I all told them to forget the left overs, paid and promptly left the restaurant. These people should not be in business as they have no idea about how to treat customers. Diners in the restaurant were watching in awe at how we were being spoken to and I can safely say, none of our group or the diners who were in the restaurant will be revisiting this establishment – and neither should you!!

We celebrated our 57th Wedding Anniversary today with a meal at Thai Torbay. Our second visit.
We chose two different stir-fry dishes and both were absolutely delicious.
The wait-people are discreet, but friendly and attentive and the servings generous.
We can’t fault this place and feel that those who do are a tiny bit precious and would fault-find wherever they go.

Update:
Disappointing price for a Thai Lamb Curry with rice: $19.00
Quality: 2 out of 5
Summary: no recommendation! Sorry.
Have been to Thai Torbay Restaurant about 5 times for take aways. Would not sit down for lunch of dinner because the feel is about 1980′s. The quality of the dishes is probably the worst compared with all the other North Shore Thai restaurants. They really have to upgrade their quality to stand the competition with other similar situated Thai places. I am a great fan of Thai cuisine. This place and the food quality makes me sad.

I wonder who and how there are some 5 star ratings???!

We eat out alot and this is our favourite restaurant in Auckland. The quality is great, very consistent, the staff are very professional and friendly and we always take our overseas visitors who consistently rate this as there best experience of Thai food anywhere. Unbeatable! We don’t live locally anymore but regularly travel to enjoy the experience.
This is one of our three favourite Thai restaurants on the Shore, with a wide range menu suited to all tastes, from Thai hot to very mild.
Excellent service and staff, just can’t fault it.
Highly recommended.
BYOW so saves on the cost, though a meal for two with entree, soup and main is about $65 (I mean how can we resist!!)
Can book a table, or turn up early and there is usually plenty of room but does begin to fill up quickly after 7.30 pm.
Great for sharing a Thai meal with friends
