I wish I could rate this 10 stars!
I grew up in Christchurch and have tried every single Thai food restaurant/takeaway over my 30 years here. There’s a couple of really good ones but this is my favorite. I think the green curry is world class, as is the Pad Thai etc.
I recently moved to New York, which has so many amazing food places, however, I’ve struggled to find a takeaway Thai place as good as Thai Kitchen in Christchurch. I just came back for 2 days and this as well as Cookai Japanese and the new theatre at Alice and Videoland were top of the list!

This is my regular spot for Thai food, it is further from my home than other Thai restaurants but well worth it. Mostly I get takeaway which I order over the phone – its always ready on time. I have tried many dishes but particular favourites are, Spring rolls, Pork Ribs, Penang chicken, Musaman curry, Pad Thai, Green Curry and loveeee the Choo Chee Prawns, but you can’t go wrong here. Sizes are generous, food is very tasty and dishes are alwys consistent. The veges in the dishes are fresh – some lesser Thai establishments use frozen. One of the overwhelmingly good things is that Gluten free people are so well catered for and there is such a range for them to select from. Highly recommend!

My partner and I found The Thai Kitchen when we moved into the area 5 years ago. We have since moved away but now travel to get our fix of delicious Thai food! We have tried several Thai restaurants and takeaways in and around Christchurch and are always disappointed. For us nothing has been able to beat The Thai Kitchens food, it is consistently loaded with fresh veges, the tastes are awesome and portion sizes very generous. We have single handedly tasted most things on the menu, our absolute favourite would be their Penang Curry, followed closely by their Phad Thai. We highly recommend this place!!

I went dinner last night with a friend. The food was incredibly tasty, full of fresh herbs and lots of vegetables. We had money bags, curry puffs, satay chicken and pad Thai. The staff were friendly and size proportions were amazing. Great value for money and we were both really pleased with the overall experience. Thank you!!

We frequent the Thai Kitchen at least twice a week. By far the most authentic, flavorsome Thai food we’ve experienced locally. We especially recommend the curries or Thai salads, full of fresh herbs and veges. The portion sizes are exceptionally generous and we believe great value for money. You won’t be disappointed!

Amazing food, never ceases to amaze my tastebuds. Always fresh, flavorsome food, which always leaves you wanting more. Very friendly and happy staff, who always have service with a smile. Being able to watch the cook, do her work whilst waiting for your meal is always a treat, as you can smell the food which is always a treat. I recommend to anyone, as it is without a doubt the best thai food in town.

The food is fresh and zesty with very generous portions. We are prepared to travel across town just to experience the taste sensations of The Thai Kitchen. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating and I would highly recommend this place.

Just finished another divine dinner from The Thai Kitchen. Consistently delicious, fresh and flavorsome authentic Thai every time. Worth the drive from St Albans! Without a doubt the best Thai food in the city so if you haven’t tried make it your next stop!

I live in St Albans but always get my Thai takeaways from here.
I’m making my way through the menu, the meals are always fantastic, the service is fast the prices are excellent, being in the food industry myself I do have very high expectations. Give this place a go because like me you won’t regret traveling a little bit further for a great meal.

The Thai Kitchen on Colombo St in Christchurch was a very pleasant surprise, I happened to stumble across it one day, and was so glad I did, it’s in my neighbourhood, I’ve tried alot of thai takeaway in my time and the food here is excelent value for money. It’s easily the best Thai takeaway in Christchurch, that I’ve found, it’s great value but you can tell they still only use fresh ingredients, the food tastes great, very flavoursome, fast and friendly service, I will definitely be going back for more and will recommend to friends.

I’ve had takeaways or dined in at 15 Thai restaurants around Christchurch over the past three years (that I can remember) but for price and quality, consistent across a range of dishes, The Thai Kitchen wins hands down. Some places may do one or two dishes well, but whether we’re getting one or two dishes, or five or six for a meal with friends, we are always impressed with the taste and quality of each dish from The Thai Kitchen. We get Thai at least once a week and I won’t go past these guys as they’re just too good. Great people, excellent food, I highly recommend them.

This would have to be the best Thai I have ever had it is to die for the taste is amazing and the portions are very good it has to be good when you ask your children what they would like for tea and they say The Thai Kitchen . A really nice surprise to find a true authentic flavour for truly Thai food in Chch. This small restaurant is the best in Chch, great food and friendly service. So take my word for it, just order and enjoy.

Best Thai in NZ. Highly recommended. Very unassuming premises offering fresh, delicious meals that never fail to disappoint. Finally a thai restaurant that knows what you are asking for when you request a thai hot dish.

Had the pleasure of discovering the best Thai food I’ve ever had and I’ve been to Thailand and eat Thai regularly. I have since been back several time and it just keeps getting better. The authentic Thai chef knocks it out of the park every time. Friendly service and a homely feel right when you walk in adds to the experience. My personal fav’s are the Larb, any of the curry’s and Tom Kai seafood soup, it’s all to die for. Well priced and excellent portions packed with fresh ingredients. The Thai Kitchen is a must try for locals and out of townees. You will LOVE it!

This place just feels sooo authentic. The food is great and definitely tastes real Thai. The meals are spicy just enough not to beat the real taste of the meal. They are definitely not saving on vegetables, which is cooked accurately to taste perfectly crunchy, just as it should be.
The environment feels authentic too, so you can tell where the chef comes from.
I was watching the staff working while waiting for my order and I couldn’t believe how incredibly they move around the kitchen and how fast the orders come and go. They just don’t stop. And all that they do with a big smile on their faces.

Great Thai food, best in town by a mile. Everything cooked fresh and they are not stingy on the veges as most other Thai places seem to be. I would eat there every night of the week if I didn’t have to drive across (around) town.

We cannot recommend The Thai Kitchen enough..
We have been eating there relatively frequently for the last year and the food is so outstanding it almost makes it hard to enjoy Thai anywhere else.
Our personal favourites are the Masaman Curry, Chicken Cashewnut and their amazing Pad Thai.

The best Thai in Christchurch! Thai Kitchen consistently has amazing food. The drunken noodles have a great spicy flavour, the cashew chicken is a great dish if you’re not in to spicy food, for an entree the money bags are superb and their curries are delicious also. The service is also great the people are very friendly

Best authentic Thai in Christchurch! Food is always fresh and vegetables cooked to perfection. They have a small eating space if you wish to dine in but would advise to phone ahead to place your order if taking away as they are always busy.

Delicious – these guys are the real deal!
Great selection, so fresh and bursting with flavours. The vegetables have just the right amount of crunch and the portions are great.
Nice clean premisis and great service. I will be back again (and again and again).
Can highly recommend the Duck Red Curry and the Moneybags. Phone ahead if you are in a hurry as it seems the word is out.

I wonder whether this restaurant has changed its chef as the chilli dish was very hot although we asked for medium and unfortunately the vegetable dish we ordered had big chunks of cabbage – really disappointing – perhaps the dishes we ordered were too healthy..we normally get a great cooked meal…

This literally the best Thai food in town (IMO). Good to ring first – it can be busy…. they have delicious fresh ingredients, authentically cooked and with great service. You must try the money bags and padthai!

I feel like I’m repeating myself, but wow these guys are one of the only places in Christchurch that know how to cook Thai food.
The Beef Penang was cooked to perfection, and my partner had the BBQ Beef Salad, which once again was so tasty, well done guys.

Phone order as it takes a while to cook. This is because it is all cooked fresh and prepared properly. Quite possibly the best Thai in town, friendly service and loyal to customers displayed by trust shown re payment on one occasion!
