Delicious seafood chowder. Highly recommend it. Loads of tasty seafood swimming in a beautifully seasoned, creamy chowder. Came with a thick piece of flavoursome garlic bread to accompany it.
Interior felt a little stark, and tended to show up every scuff and scratch on the white seating. However there are lots of spots outdoors to enjoy the waterside – so grab one of those if you can – but all al fresco tables were busy when we popped in for a quick weekday lunch. The efficient staff were amenable to our requests, and service was quick.

Considering the cafe is located in the Westin Hotel, one would expect a great atmosphere and fantastic food, yet the only thing that is up to Westin standards are the prices, completely unjustified but what you get.

The atmosphere is terrible, it looks and feels like a cheap take-away. Plastic chairs and tables, everything a little grubby. The smell of old frying fat hangs in the air.

The French toast we ordered was soggy and tasted of old fat, by no means worth the almost 20 NZD we paid for it per portion.

Avoid at all costs. Spend the money on something really nice or get some fish’n'chips instead
