Firstly there was no one else in the bar/cafe but the staff (4 or 5 working out the front) were too busy wanting to get closed and finish work that they only brought over one of the drinks we had ordered. Therefore my partner was sitting there for some time waiting for his drink and ended up having to ask for his drink.
I ordered a coffee this was absolutely disgusting – really weak and way too milky.
The pizza – a margherita was doughy and instead of basil as one of the toppings listed on the menu, they put basil pesto on the pizza. Luckily neither of us have any nut allergies as pesto is full of nuts!
I asked the staff if the cake would be coming as I noticed all food had been removed from the cabinet and they were discussing who was taking what was left home.
I wish we hadn’t paid for the cake as in the end it was not a comfortable environment with cleaning process taking place around us and chairs being put up on tables I didn’t want to stay to finish the pizza let alone eat the cake.
Really disappointed by crap service, and food that was not what we expected. Won’t be visiting again.

We decided to try their brunch menu. There were about eight items to choose from, all but one featured hollandaise sauce. There were no fruit or cereal options. We both ordered the portobello mushrooms with black pudding, bacon and tomatoes served on toasted bread. The food arrived nicely plated, along with the lattes we ordered to have while waiting for the food. It was just as well really, because the glasses were too hot too handle until we had eaten. I thought the mushrooms were a little tough and my husband found the black pudding a little salty, small things that didn’t overly detract from a cruisy start to the day.
PS Went back later in the day keen for an iced tea to cool down… to no avail. Even bottled cold tea drinks would be a nice addition to their selection.

Great chefs, fresh food and a big friendly welcome from Front of House owners Mark & Sam Burgess.
Fantastic variety of live and local music on Friday nights.
City bar vibe in a rural town! You’ve got to love it!
