Kawakawa what a lovely wee town. Pitty about The Trainspotter cafe though. It only rates a marginal one star with us ! Their barista could do with learning how to make coffee. That is you need t actually put coffee in the machine. Was not impressed with the muddy water or the milk with cinnamon so called coffees we received. Don’t recommend this place if you enjoy good coffee you might get better at BP.

Not one of the Bay of Islands restaurants that you’ll brag about. The coffee and muffins are good but the service was confrontational and the meal was not what we asked for in our order. Oh well, off to Paihia.

A funky little cafe in Kawakawa – just opposite the (world famous) toilets. What a great place – fast friendly service (boy oh boy – that smile could kill!) The food was great – highly recommend the B.L.A.T (Bacon Lettuce Avacado and Tomato) or the blueberry pancakes or the French Toast. If you want a BIG salad, try the Chilli Chicken Kebabs. Very Impressed!
