Dining on a Monday night mid-season in a town like Wanaka could be very quiet. There was a reasonable crowd in the Trout and the food and service was probably the attraction. The fish of the day (oven baked blue cod) was very nice and well described by the staff. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the food and wine and the surroundings were more like a restaurant than the Monteiths bar that it is. Overall a very good dining experience.
