I visited Tuk Tuk a few times and found Pad Thai was amazing. Highly recommend to anyone. Their Devil Noodle and Drunken Noodle were pretty good too. Staff was friendly and food arrived quickly. Price was a bit higher than other takeaway shop but definately a lot less than the restaurant. There are several branches around Hamilton but I haven’t been to any other branches really.

The Pad Thai was fantastic but Tomyum and red curry were a let-down. Not sure if carrots, broccoli and green beans contribute at all to Thai flavours. Tom yum soup wasn’t sour or spicy, condiments contributed more to the flavours than anything in the dish. Should have gone for their specialties as then i wouldn’t have had to compare them to ‘better elsewheres’. Quite pricey for that kind of standard.

I actually have not been to Tuk-Tuk for over a year, partly due to a few unimpressive meals from other branches of Tuk-Tuk. This review is only for the one in town–I don’t think I’ll be wasting my money at the other branches any time soon.
Tuk-Tuk had been a long-time favorite, but the menu stayed a bit static, and prices kept going up, which meant that it fell off my radar. I’m happy to report that both issues have been addressed: the newly (to me, anyway) expanded menu looks impressive, and the prices have gone back down to more reasonable levels (although still too expensive to have on a regular basis).
Tuk-Tuk is one of the few Thai establishments that always cook with all cylinders firing–most other places serve watered-down versions unless requested otherwise and only if you look like you can handle it (Indian restaurants are also bad offenders when it comes to profiling). I’m not only referring to spiciness, although that’s certainly part of it, but also just the general flavor. I was actually amazed at how much deep-fried garlic came with my pork dish, a bold move by any standard.
If I have one criticism, it would be the fact that not many Asian greens are used in their cooking. I understand that common vegetables are cheaper and more reliable to source, but it negatively impacts the texture of the food IMO. However, if this is the only criticism I have, you know this is a place you should try.

Excellent food, friendly service, conveniently located in the lovely surroundings of Casabella Lane.
It’s a small place, so it can be a little crowded around lunch time, making it not exactly a romantic dining venue, but it is perfect if you work in the city and want to grab a quick, healthy and delicious lunch.

Excellent food at reasonable prices, conveniently located in the heart of the CBD. As previously mentioned the dining in experience is a bit cramped, but still enjoyable. If you work in the CBD area there are few better places to pickup some delicous thai cuisine. If you are a fan of hot dishes, the gloriously hot Devil’s Rice will warm you from head to toe.
