Very attentive service, we shared the cob garlic loaf for entree which was freshly baked – lovely, warm and soft. I had the pork belly for a main, my partner had a steak. Both meals were fantastic only slight critiscm was the spinach served with the pork belly was quite bitter. All in all meals were still top notch and brought out quickly
Would definitely recommend

The service we received from the barman and the waitress was wonderful. They are to be commended, however the manager on duty was another matter. Upon paying we relayed our experience and instead of the expected apology we were told that “We got very busy tonight you know” We responded to advise that we had booked and were there before anyone else in the restaurant. The manager then told us that due to some diners in our group arriving late he had to re – explain the specials and this had slowed down their service. Once again we reminded him that we had booked and that we were a large table, at no time did we receive an apology of any sorts. My mother then advised that she would not be coming back. The manager seemed totally taken aback but instead of offering an apology, he offered excuses and tried to put the blame back on us.
Some advice from one business owner/manager to another. If you have an upset customer try to see it from their perspective, admit that there is/was an issue and take their feedback. Most Importantly Apologise!!!!

Restaurant was fairly busy and my order was taken when I was ready. I ordered the garlic Cobb loaf and to my delight I was asked if I wanted this prior to my main or along with it (nice touch). I chose to have this with my main which was to be the reddened chicken.
When my meal came out it looked fantastic and the sauce that went along with the chicken gave it that special touch of class.
The Cobb loaf was amazing and so was the chicken, it was cooked to perfection and the vegetables (cauli, broccoli & carrots) were arranged beautifully on my plate. The chicken was placed on a bed of mash which was creamy and along with the sauce gave my taste buds a great work out.
I would definitely recommend the new chicken recipe.
Overall it was another awesome dining experience even tho there were only two front of house staff and the restaurant was busy I still got the A1 service (well done guys).
I will definitely be back to dine again, good food, awesome surroundings, friendly and prompt service.
Well done Two Black Sheep for filling up my tummy. I look forward to my next visit.

Right from the early booking stages right through to the end of the night we received fantastic service.
The staff were friendly, and helpful. Happy to accommodate the needs of our guests (some did not partake in the set menu, instead ordered off the main menu).
Not to mention the food was fantastic with really generous servings. We had a fantastic night.

The quality of the food is excellent, the bar food is top notch and when I’ve had dinner here the steak I had was very good.
We were put into there function room where they had decorated the table for us with balloons and they had kids menus which you could colour in.
They also put on the big screen with the rugby so the adults had something to do as well.
I had eggs Benedict it came with bacon instead of ham and was great.
As for the rest of the food there was nothing but praise for it especially the burger(it was huge).
Overall it was a great place to have a birthday the staff were friendly and didn’t mind changing things for the fussy people.
I will be going back.
We ordered the mini hamburger and mini fish and chips which were delicious, just the right size!! We both had the corn fritters which were moist and very tasty.
I must say that the prices are very reasonable and food was great quality, hot.
Service was brilliant, friendly and efficient.
We will definately be back thank you all at Two Black Sheep!!!

Dessert: my almost Chocolate Mud Cake had hardly any cocoa in it and was obviously microwaved to death! My fiancee’s cheesecake was store brought and not handmade as the waiter suggested.
We will never go back to this restuarant. Many friends warned us off but we wanted to try it for ourselves (we wish we hadn’t now)

- like Angel S (11 May 2011) our cutlery had a nasty taste to it that tainted all the food
- some of the chairs were in need of maintenance/replacement and we did not feel ‘secure’ sitting on them!
- food was pretty average: fish and chips weren’t drained very well so were quite greasy; beef pot pie had big lumps of fat and gristle in it; two of our group both ordered chicken burgers which came out being very different sizes
We won’t be going back.
Then it came to the main and husband’s choice was the ribs and I had the Pork Belly, half way through the main we swapped dishes, they were so nice and it’s refreshing to see they are not using the normal sauces which you get everywhere, neither of us has tasted a sauce like they had on the ribs, the pork belly was tender and I was initially reluctant to swap dishes.
On to the desserts, my husband had the mud cake which I agree with him, delectable and I choose the cheesecake of the day which was double chocolate, heaven!!
We’ve found the place in the Hutt we’ve been looking for and will definitely be back.

I was a bit miffed at the barman-note*you should serve people in order of arrival,we were first! But that aside, all the wait-staff were friendly&attentive.
I give 5 stars partly for the service and food which were both better than just very good but mostly,we are still raving about the calamari,so keep that chef on!!

The only complaint some people had was the bread and butter pudding was a bit dry; they suggested that the Chef find Aunt Daisy’s or grandma’s recipe for this as it should be nice and soft. I am sure the Chef can accommodate this for next time. Everyone raved about the sticky date pudding.
Once again thanks for a great evening; many of the group will definitely be coming back and passing the word around amongst their friends to come to Two Black Sheep.

We started by ordering our starter – Garlic Bread. When it eventually turned up there didn’t seem to any garlic. Cheese, yes. Lots of cheese, but no garlic. And it was small. Four very small pieces of french bread about 3-4 cm long with a crapload of cheese. $9. I could see trouble on the horizon.
Our mains turned up about 60-70 minutes after we ordered them. Our drinks (that we ordered 20 minutes before our mains arrived) came about 10 minutes after our mains arrived.
Now to the mains themselves:
I ordered the ‘pork knuckle served in a mildly spiced two black bbq sauce with chips’. There was no bbq sauce. If they think it was bbq sauce, they need cooking lessons, soon. Probably a lot of them. It was a relish, and an average one at that. For good measure it was a tomato based relish, not a bbq based one. Tomato. Lots and lots of tomato. The chips came under the knuckle…and the relish. There was a lot of relish. It completely covered my chips. The chips of course being smothered in RELISH, NOT bbq sauce, were soggy and horrible. The pork knuckle was ok, but there really wasn’t a lot of meat on it. I counted how many forkfuls a got. It was easy, there were four. There was also a lot of tomato relish on the knuckle. And the chips.
Now to my wife’s meal. She ordered the ‘tender chicken thighs’. There was one thigh. An ‘s’ is used when there is more than one. Two for instance would be more than one. As would three, four, five etc etc. Other than that it was ok. Decidedly average was the sentence actually used.
The service (outside of being pathetically slow) was surprisingly good. Very friendly and trying to be helpful, which was hard considering the above. As we left the waitress she said she’d see us next time. No, you won’t.
All in all this is not somewhere we’d ever consider going again.

Sunday 10 April returned expecting same quality of food. WRONG…..it was as different as night and day. Mince was colourless, plain, watery & tasteless, eggs were marginal, ciabatta was soggy due to the watery mince, husbands bacon was crispy & sparse…scrambled eggs were dry,…not good at all.
Waitress informed us there was a different ‘chef’ on today. Well that was obvious.
2BS must be consistently good if we are going to return.

8 of us booked in for dinner last night. Service was fantastic, barman was friendly and helpful – top marks to him. Same goes to duty manager. Niece’s meal was free as was her birthday we were out to celebrate.
entrees were delish, garlic cob, calamari – yum
I ordered Colonial Goose – delicious, except the potato’s were a bit hard.
4 ordered fish and loved it, 3 ordered burgers – pattie was not nice – big and thick sure, but not tasty.
However, friendly, efficient staff more than made up for the shortcomings but that alone won’t entice us back for a while.

I ordered the breads and dips for starters, which was nice although the dips I was presented with weren’t the ones on the menu. My husband ordered the mussels in white wine and spicy salsa, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
I ordered sirloin steak (medium) for my mains, with chips and salad. The steak was cooked beautifully and was delicious, and although the chips were slightly undercooked they were nice as well.
My husband ordered the spare ribs and for $21.00 we got more than our money’s worth. The ribs were huge and meaty, and there were plenty of them. He is a big eater but struggled to get through them all plus his chips and salad. The sauce they were cooked in was lovely (I pilfered one of his ribs to try)- not your traditional bbq sauce which appealed.
One thing that we really liked was that our waitress wasn’t the only one helping with our table, the wait staff seemed to be working in tandem and our plates were cleared immediately by another waitress, and we had yet another waitress ask in passing if we needed more drinks once we had finished ours and whether our meal was ok. Although some diners may see this as being too over the top, we thought it was great service and is one of the reasons we will be making a return visit. Overall a very pleasant experience and one we look forward to repeating.

The kids meals were fantastic value and good quality. They came out with crayons and the menu was a colouring sheet.
We found the meals very substantial (even took home a doggy bag). They were well presented and well cooked. We loved it and we’re going back again soon.
Highly recommend this for adults & kids alike.
Anyways, as we had another voucher to use we went back the next day for breakfast. It was better than the lunch, even though mushroom wasn’t cooked properly and the sausages were a bit over deep fried! By the time we left we were the only ones there and had to go to find someone to sort out the payment as there was no one around.
Overall customer service was ok, meals could be much better. We dine out a lot and always expect a little gourmet touch to the meals but here it looked like something I could have made at home myself

well cold black and oily was asked for no tomatoe due to alergie guess what they gave it to me, mushrroms were black mind you so was everyting else. The wait staff were so apologetic and the management refused to let the chef come out to see me even though he came out anyway.
$21 for a breakfast I think it should look what it says it is.
Replacement was better but it is a heart attack waiting with all the salt.
two black thumbs down
