Guests rave about the fantastic curries and the warm friendly ambience at Two Fat Indians. Instead of traditional Indian themed music and decor, both of the Two Fat Indians restaurants (at Manchester St and in Merivale) are styled with chunky rimu furniture, polished floors and softened lighting. The unique décor combines with contemporary background music to provide the perfect relaxed atmosphere to enjoy fantastic Indian Cuisine with divine curries and flavoursome Tandoori dishes.
The fully licensed house-bar hosts a wide range of international beers, wines, cocktails and liqueurs, plus one of the biggest ranges of Single Malt Whiskies in Canterbury.
Try the comfortable leather couches beside the fire in the lounge bar to enjoy a drink while you wait for your takeaway. Or dine-in the main restaurant for the unique ambience.
Whether you are looking for an “eyes meeting across the table” intimate dining experience or large groups for Christmas, Birthdays, Hen and Stag Nights or a Corporate Dinner; Two Fat Indians is the place to enjoy a great night.

we sat down at 7pm had 4 different people wait on us but still didn’t get good service, took forever to get a drink! I ordered some nuts for nibbles and they took an hour and a half to get to our table as well as the starters, then an hour later our mains came out after going up to the bar twice to find out how far our meals were away, and then I didn’t realise we had to order our rice separate normally you automatically get rice with whatever you order! Then to top that off because it took so long for us to get our meals we got a parking fine, and we had 2 hours on the clock! It seemed to me that this restaurant needs some sort of organisation! Once we got the food however it was great just a shame the service sucked! We unfortunately don’t plan on going back there anytime soon. there is more to a restaurant than food, it is also all about the service! thanks :)

Have dined at this restaurant many times, and it constantly produces lovely food, and average service. Filling, good value for money, although the wine list could do with some extending please….

This is the best Indian restaurant I have yet tasted in Christchurch. Incredible flavour, very fresh. The tomato based ones are particularly good! Highly recommended

The restaurant was pretty much empty when we went there on Sunday night. The service was attentive but I think the waiter was inexperienced as he had to check on our drink selection a couple of times. The food is a bit more expensive than other Indian restaurants and although the portions appear small they were sufficiently filling. They advertise that they have be best curries in town or they are free. The food was nice but definitely not the best in town.
